I agree with Dave. I care 12 builds for my group already. I don't want to carry another full build or two. However you don't ever have to equip all your tokens. Use just your legendary weapon (and nothing else) if that is all you have. It is also pretty easy to miss when sliding if you are attempting to miss. Or play a class that doesn't matter as much how much gear you have like a bard or a pacifist druid.

Bolded for emphasis.

Create a number of builds in an app. The difference in the builds isn't swapping out tokens, it's removing tokens. Normal build could be 1-7 tokens used in Epic build (plus TEs, of course), and so forth. Don't need to carry anything more than normally would.

I really like this and I think I'll start doing that for now on. I've also started to pick tokens that are more thematic and fun over pure damage enhancers that way if i'm doing pugs I can maybe add to the excitement through role play instead of just beat up on things.

Well you have to put up with me for 2 hours, so there is that cost. The individual persons I guess have to figure out if it was worth it to gain extra treasure...lol.

When I find a new player with 0 TE tokens I offer a full loan of all mine and ask for a 10x chip. It's getting better and better for them as new TEs come out.

If they already have any URTE I'll ask if they need anything to fill to max treasure and will upgrade them to full assuming I have enough CoA's free that run to do so. But the 0 token newbies always come first.

I don't haggle on things. If they come back with 7 instead of 10 I'll generally say yes. If someone walked in and offered full chips for free I'd laugh and suggest they take the free loan instead

Neither of you are ass.... Shame that people ask for a return after someone pays for their own ticket.

While loaning tokens seems nice, in the early days I was often geared out with higher level tokens by vets that joined the runs. Vets joining pugs and decking out players to the point that people are killing monsters in one shot, or one round in normal difficulty is not a good thing. When monsters go down before people are able to attack, be attacked, or even understand what happened, it actually hurts the experience more than it helps. Initially I didn't understand why anyone needed tokens, it was just all too easy.

Players don't want to sit around for 5-6 minutes after the monster is killed. This is akin to vets coming in and answering the puzzle they have already done. There is no danger involved if someone is just going to solve it.

Whenever I am running with newbies, a pug, or the crew of 20ish that I sponsor on runs I privately ask combat GM's to signal me when the monster is dead so I can stop burning spells but to allow the party to fight to the warning timer and claim victory. I've been doing that for the last 5 years. One of my friends figured it out the third year and thanked me for making it more epic for the group/

Being a Wizard is an advantage because I already have to talk to the GM to cast spells and I already skip casting rounds to conserve ammo if the monster is nearly dead, so it doesn't seem odd that I'm chatting with the DM for a moment.

As a Wizard I just stop using my MEC and undercut my +spell damage bonuses (and drop my HP by 25ish)

If we cannot kill the monster with the gear we have ohhh well it likely won't wipe the party and if it does it would not be the end of the world.

I offer if anyone wants.

I offer a full rare build or random URs depending what the player wants to experience.

Some players want the CHALLENGE!! some want to DECIMATE!! the enemies. I adjust to what they want.

Very much agree, especially on immediately killing the monsters. Part of the reason I’m buying out full runs now is an experience with a legendary geared player on a normal difficulty pug a few years back. Said player not only was capable of soloing all of the monsters, but actively shoed some of us away from sliding since he “had it covered”.

I would rather not kill a monster Sliding 5 rounds of combat than wipe it out with 5 minutes to spare.

*blinks* What the serious fuck.

I can't believe someone did that to you, I am sorry that ever happened. That's the kind of shit that loses us new players :(

That's cool, its much more exciting when it runs the clock and someone makes that last ditch heroic kill!
