THAT is what you took away from my comments? Wow.

Not only no, but hell no. I’m saying I have better things to do with that $10k

You could always put the $10K on the Colts to win the Superbowl. I'm sure you'd get good odds :)

I don’t understand why it’s unethical. That suggests that vets are obligated to grant max treasure to newbies they run with out of the goodness of their hearts. The newbies get free loot with zero investment on their part. Are they really better off if you don’t lend them TEs?

Sure, they’re happier if they get to keep all the loot. Going forward, I’m happy to let them keep the four chips from a CoGF. I’m not keeping an additional $10k of tokens just so they get another 13 on top of that. YMMV

And I agree, attitude is important. Obnoxious people aren’t pleasant to be around. I hope I’m not coming across as obnoxious. I’m just trying to find a path to retiring sometime before I’m too old to enjoy it, and subsidizing ungrateful newbies isn’t going to do it.

And we are WAAAAY off topic

The other way to look at it is the newbies are subsidizing the farmer, because the farmer gets the token return of 4 runs with only investing in 1 ticket.

Extra pulls can go from $2.50 to $5 each, with $4 being the most common asking price. $3 Would probably be easy enough to get. So buy 1 ticket sale the extra pulls at $3 each, $68 dollar ticket gets you $252 in tokens. $168 profit per run
Do 10 runs like this at pax south $1,680 profit from runs.
This is just what I see.

If that were to happen on any significant scale, it would drive the price down

I agree with that, I think if mass quantities of treasure chips were to hit the market, the price per treasure chip would drop.

If the price dropped to $2 per pull on average then the profit for the con would still be at $1,000 and I don’t see pulls dropping below $2 any time soon. Go to one of the cons before gencon and then put them up right before gencon, they would sell fast.
I agree that the game can only support so many people doing this, and as a guess probably less than 10 people in the community doing this kind of thing currently. For my purposes I feel if you use the tokens for draws, or sell them, or some combination you get to a similar scenario. Someone doing the pulls and flooding the market with monster bits is a way of offloading the pulls for value, might be part of the low fleece price we currently have.

I do like that ghosting has been limited for Gencon since those slots sell out to the general convention goers. I am ok with people buying out runs for a small group and ghosting the other slots (either for treasure farming or just so they can have a small group experience) as long as it doesn't result in more people not being able to play. At Origins this next year, in addition to doing full runs with friends/forumites (and the crossover between those :) ), I'm considering buying out a couple slots and seeing how hard it will be for 2 people to complete them on nightmare/epic levels. Not 100% sure I'll do it but it's crossed my mind.

Hopefully we stay away from people semi-professionally "farming" runs unless it is just to buy out tickets that couldn't otherwise sell.

Keep in mind that Ghosting is restricted at all conventions now, no more than 5 ghosts can get treasure chips on any given run.

On the other side of that, I was a little disgusted when a whale benefactor came up to me at the end of a run with his palm out and I had to inform him I had a full set of boosters of my own, so I didn't need his largesse.

Eh. I offer a loan of my extra treasure boosters if I am on a run without my full crew and split the boost with the people who want to borrow 50/50. Seems to work well.

I wouldn't feel disgusted if a random person had offered to loan treasure boosters that I didn't need. I'd just tell them I was covered but thank you
