I wanted to check my assumptions from this ruling.
Is this all correct with the legendary?:
  • Flurry of Blow weapons to be thrown will be equipped in the ranged slot of the character. This is so the AC modifier of the weapons (such as the +2 from the +2 Flaming Blade or +5 from Asher's) would be included/added to the ranged to-hit of the monk when attacking at range.
  • Melee retribution damage is not inflicted upon the monk when a monk throws their returning Flurry of Blow melee weapons.
  • Monks can still choose to attack with ranged even if the enemy can be hit in melee. This could potentially be used to avoid retribution damage or other penalty for melee attacks (like getting stuck in spider webs) with the "drawback" of using ranged stats instead of melee stats.

Ranged Flurry of Blows attacks made via the power from Benrow's Elder Drake Necklace are ranged attacks (not melee-for-ranged) and follow the rules & standards for ranged attacks, including but not limited to when & where a ranged attack may be made.

As for where these weapon stats are recorded on the party card, that's kind of up to you. If you want to equip a FoB-compatible melee weapon in the ranged slot to reap the associated benefits & penalties from said FoB-compatible weapon, you may do so.
let the sleazing commence ;-p

This should probably be one of the Questions on the Coach test. NORMALLY, as a coach I wouldn't allow someone to equip a non-ranged weapon in the ranged slot.

I guess my question is:
Should the AC to-hit modifier from the FoB melee weapon be included in range to-hit calculation when it is thrown? I think it definitely should be, and am hoping for written confirmation.

Otherwise it would be like throwing Thor's without being able to equip it in the ranged slot and benefit from the +5 to hit when throwing.

I suppose, in a matter of speaking, Benrow's effectively turns all FoB-compatible melee weapons into compound returning weapons. Therefore, while Benrow's is equipped, you may equip any FoB-compatible weapon in melee, ranged, or both melee & ranged combat modes.

If you're unsure as to how equipping a weapon in a particular combat mode would affect your stats, follow this guideline: Assume the weapon is a naturally compound weapon and apply its bonuses and penalties accordingly.

I am disinclined to list every conceivable ramification of this ruling. I think we all have better things to do, no? As the saying goes, there are two types of people in this world:

This is not directed at any specific individual.
As is always the case, TD reserves the right to alter a rule/policy at any time--especially if it's determined that a particular rule/policy is having a negative impact on the game. For example, if you've concocted some sleaze with this Benrow's ruling that'll give you god-like stats, it's safe to assume your apotheosis will be short-lived. Capisce?

Cranston and David's take note. Something to add to the character generators. When I'm in the Android generator and equip Benrow's I do not see the FOB melee weapons show up under Ranged Mainhand.
