TOPIC: Flying with tokens

Flying with tokens 4 years 7 months ago #13

Checked bag: tokens are HEAVY and quickly eat up the weight limit. Pack them thoroughly, checked bags jostle around a lot, so poor containers like plastic bags or loosely screwed caps will pop open and spill the tokens everywhere.

Carry-on bag: weight doesn’t matter, except on your shoulders if you are physically carrying the bag. Clear is the easiest when traveling with anything in carry on, TSA Precheck is easier than standard security with anything. Tokens tend to set off red flags less often when they are well-stacked and neat in your bag, but they do tend to set off more red flags than anything else I have traveled with besides food or weighted blankets, so be prepared to have them separate from the rest of your stuff when going through security and then consolidating back down or at least easily accessible in the bag to save time. I have never once had an issue with being stopped and told I can’t take them, just it taking some extra time going through security on occasion.
I play Wizard.

I had same question for Origins.

It ended up being a funny story, because TSA asked if I'm a poker chip collector and I ended up with just going with.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies. One thing I had certainly forgotten about was to plan for the tokens I would be getting at the con.

I ended up removing everything not absolutely necessary from my token binder and taking it out of my bag to run separately through security. No problems whatsoever. Hopefully it will be that smooth on the return. (And hopefully I left enough room in the binder for token pulls and whatnot.)

Through TSA in Milwaukee without a hitch.

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir
