Essentially that style and shape, but I'm open to suggestions for improvements.
I'm not partial to a particular material, but it should be easily portable and fairly durable.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

If all you’re looking for is a way to make sure you have a stack of 25, you could:

A. Use a postage scale. Tokens are .4oz, unless they’re missing their metal insert, so 25 come in at about 10 to 10.1 ounces

B. Cobble together something like this. I made mine from an old iPhone box and a scrap of foam core.

2 slots or 5? 2 slot 25 count configuration does seem more portable I have a CNC routing table in my classroom. I may have some time to tinker during my lunches

Also would you like a one of the slots to be a combination slot? for a 8 UC 1 common / 4 rare 1 common?

I was logged in, I am wondering if it was my ad blocker. Both work on my cell phone.

The only thing I am wondering is how important is it to have the slanted sides in each division. Either way it should be easy to design.

I made this really quickly. To cut down on the size I overlapped the rows, each division is offset to the side by 5 mm from center. 4 rows wide is the most you can fit on most consumer 3D printers.

I can test printing it if you send me the .stl (will PM you).

Cool, now I can keep mine. I’ll stress-test it when the 2019s arrives :)

I kinda wanna try making one of these now too. Might take a run at one when I get home this weekend.

Are you going to make the .stl available? I have a few 3D printers I can print it on...

One thing I'm really hoping for with this tray is precision. If the tokens don't fit perfectly* it significantly diminishes the tray's usefulness. I need to have high confidence the tokens are being slotted (counted) correctly.

*Obviously, nothing is "perfect". :–)

Justice wrote: Also would you like a one of the slots to be a combination slot? for a 8 UC 1 common / 4 rare 1 common?

I don't foresee that being a feature I would use.
However, a tray with 10 slots instead of 25, broken down into 7/2/1 divisions might come in handy on occasion.

That's a great question, but I'm afraid I can't answer it until I've tried using it. That said, I'm about to speculate: These coin trays have been around for a long time and every one I've seen has the slanted sides. That makes me think slanted is a superior--or at least most popular--design/use choice.

Those dimensions sound reasonable.

I was not expecting this kind of response when I posted the picture. Public availability of the stl is not a big deal, but I would prefer to get some feedback or have a chance to print it myself to see what kind of improvements should be made to it. I am pretty sure I have your email address so I sent you a copy of the STL.

For something like this 3D printing makes it pretty easy to iterate on the design and make it perfect, although I do expect the first revision to basically count correctly at least.

I have been thinking about the slanted sides, I suspect they are done like this to make it so coins do not fall over as easily if a section is not full.
