Long story short, Both of the CoA's were a direct buy.

Which only occurred through a string of good luck, life's circumstance, and a great community.

I thought to do a funny story like my initial post on the matter but I don't want to bore anyone.

After weighing my options it came down to two pathways. Either slowly accumulating the components over time for the first CoA, starting with a Charm of Good Fortune, or finding a good price on a CoA Direct. For me, the item was first community focused and second mad loots. My hope was that collaborative TE's would remove barriers to play with folks better geared than I. So it came down for me personally to allocate one of the two options.

Speaking for myself, I dont care if those I end up playing with aren't as well geared as I.

I enjoy meeting and working with new people.

Having your own does make it easier I suppose, jut many would rather just have you in the group regardless.

I followed this thread because I was also considering making CoA(s) for my husband and myself.
Then I saw the recipes for the 2019 transmutes.
I ended up buying 2 CoAs already made. We're going to need a LOT of monster bits to make relic beads, as well as making the Golden Fleece we'll need for the Kilts and the class-specific relics. I saw a price I could live with, and decided there's no time like the present. Happy hunting to everyone still on the quest!

Looking back I feel I misspoke. Lesson to myself, no sleep and forum'ing can cause wackyness. My point was more about finding a way to collaborate and be a team player.

Congratulations! Yea 2019 is going to be interesting in regards to transmuting.

For us, it just so happened that some of our Gencon swag went for STUPID money. Then we fell into free money that begets free money which allowed us to be more comfortable with pulling the trigger on getting our CoA's. Won't lie though, making a purchase that high $$$ through the forums took a lot of trust and faith at first. Thankfully luck would have it that a great person I actually met at Gencon was the person to hook me up.

With the bits jumping from four to six next year I'd hate to try and pick up the needed amounts for the bead and 2020s blue chips without the CoA.

Yep. That’s exactly what I started thinking after seeing the 2019 recipes. Also, my group has recently expanded to a full set of 10 players (most of the time). But only 4 of us are willing/able to devote significant time and money to improving our builds. So I’m not just looking to make 2 relic beads—we’re going to want 10 total. We are fortunate to have one other CoA in the party, and a good number of ISSNs with some ISGNs to come in 2019. But even then, it’s going to take a lot of runs to get all the monster bits we need.
