Wow - that's a major nerf - with the spell hands rule clarification this means the lenses can't be used unless the players hands were empty at the start of a round.

Can a player use lenses of divine sight and ring of spell storing by treating their standard action as a free action so as to get 2 free actions?

That Baton of Focus is looking better all the time.

But I think there now needs to be a rare focus weapon for clerics and Druids as well.

It also nerfs a cleric or Druid depending on a Sceptre of Might to complete a Might Set for level.

Agreed. But, the rare Staff didn't appear until the year after the UR Staff, so maybe next year.

I still use the Might Set for my NM cleric, but I was planning to use Orb/Crown/Girdle anyway. The relic Baton is so good that I figured it was worth giving up a shield and the set bonuses that go with them.

But it's good to have options.

I'm confused, now. Help me understand, please.

With a few exceptions (i.e. figurines of power automatically trigger if a condition is met [but the player still decides to use the figure.], +3 Stu's Mug [can drink upto TWO potions as ONE free action], etc.), it's my understanding that usually a player gets ONE standard action AND ONE free action per combat round?

Now, I understand if a player uses two items in one combat round, if and only if one item is used as a standard action and (if eligible) the other item is used as a free action. But how does a player get TWO free actions (under non-specific) circumstances? As a combat D.M., this seems very pertinent? Thanks for letting me know.

I think we have the same question.

I'm asking if a player can choose to use their standard action to fulfill the requirements of something that consumes a free action - e.g. can they substitute a standard action for a free action.

I would assume this is true, at least in modern D&D you get standard, a move, and a minor action each round and can choose to substitute the standard for a second move or second minor.

Per Jeff, one may not perform two Free Actions in a single round--even if one does not perform a Standard Action.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Whew, that was close. It was like stepping onto a railway crossing with a freight train travelling at 90 mph beimg just ten feet away. (* Heart fluttering. *)

You misunderstand. With Windy Boots and Baton, that only leaves three other Might pieces.

Indeed. Boots of the Four Winds. Yep, I'd make that trade.

You are still going to need to use a free action to drop your Orb to cast spells.
