You can stack different segments, you can't stack the same segments or any segments with a complete rod.

well that is logical.

Curiosity has gotten the best of me. I have segment 1 and 2. I have not transmuted yet. I may be open to the idea of selling them individually, but I may decline and sell the competed rod at some point. I have to weigh options and what I might want to do but . . .

Just for interest sake, I drew segment 1 out of a treasure box in the last room the year it was first given out (I think to volunteers). I was with Gary Aswegan and told him I thought it was cool to draw it, on my last run, but I really had no idea how cool it would become.

Rods are awesome and will only become more awesome with time

We had initially planned to make two rods for the two characters (Ranger/Druid) that would raise them a level. But with the huge benefit it gives to healers we want more than two rods for our team. Widseth, Rod 1 is a very valuable rod, but I am willing to receive charity if you are willing to depart with it, you would donating to a great cause. As Disbeeleaf said, it probably would be best on the forum, maybe there is another item you are looking for that would be part of the trade, otherwise eBay.

I've received some nice offers and still have some decisions to make, but right now I am leaning toward transmuting the rod.

I'd recommend transmuting the Rod, and then either using it or auctioning it off on the forums for cash and/or trade. I'd avoid Ebay, you can probably get just as good a price on the forums and avoid the significant fees they charge.

There is some added value to the completed rod if you pull a number someone wants.


One thing to consider is the 2 piece eldritch set value is super awesome but there will be another way to obtain it without the rod. But in the same moment there will be a 3 piece set bonus added most likely.

Just more stuff to consider.

I'm not aware of there ever being a case where selling an item brought as much as, let alone more than, the cost of the components. But maybe the Rod is different. I doubt it , though.

But I'd never counsel anyone to make an item unless they want to keep it. I would discount my offer based on the components I owned, and I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

I appreciate all your thoughts. I'm going to go ahead and transmute the rod and we will see what happens.

A quick question for any that might wish to ponder.

If I buy or trade for a Rod at Gencon on saturday, but the person who had it before me already used it on friday for the prestige class would I be able to use it myself? or would I have to wait a year?
