TOPIC: Do You Want to Play a Game? >:D

Garrison wrote: The Medallion of Nobility is hard to find in the token database, but it is there. It is the only token that is both "slotless" and "yearless". It is also categorized as Appreciation.

I realize it was misleading to say you could use it and still get max treasures, because most people assume it is a neck item. But to be accurate, it is slotless.

Yeah, it is not worth much money. But I still think it is a valuable token, if only to the person it belongs to.

This "game" was not a flawless experiment. Lots of rough edges. But I learned a lot doing it, and it makes me consider trying to do more games...next time with more exciting prizes. :S

I guess you are right when you put it that way and also someone should tell Amorgan about his character build sheet that it's slotless because he also have it for neck slot also. I have to give you a lot credit for this thread as it does more than being curious as being involve in a challenging my knowledge of these tokens that everyone has plenty of. The other things is that this thread manage to do is to have over one thousand viewing in about little over 12 hours, which is astonishing in it own right. Where I manage to get about 600 viewing once in a blue moon. Bra-vo!!!

It actually makes even more sense that you'd find this particular token as a stray lost on the hall floor.

I know many people that put this particluar token inside their badge holder because its more of a status symbol than anything else. Tokens in badge holders can easily fall out and you're not necessairly thinking about it because it will happen when your accessing your badge or whatever else you are after inside your holder. It could just as easily have been found near a shirt booth.

Not to say people arn't always careful with their tokens but I can see how folks might put this token in harms way more often. I know I do it.

FYI Medallion of Nobility is a neck item. Per the 2013 token guide. Remember Tokendb is not official, but the guide is.

True the item is listed with other neck items but never does it say, "worn" or "wearer" as all the other neck items do, indicating you get its effects even if its not worn as wearing it doesn't seem to be required. :)

True. But as a Coach, if I had a player say "I am equipping the Medallion of Nobility" I would not count that against their ability to use the Horn of Plenty or AoW. It is not an item which grants any sort of magic power, and thus would not interfere with the magical functions of a "proper" neck item. Kinda like wearing a 1000 GP Sapphire Necklace wouldn't prevent use of the HoP. Or wearing a Badge-Holder. :)

Garrison: Thank you very much for running the game! I didn't submit any answers, but I was "following along at home" so to speak, and it was great Entertainment.

My own personal 3 guesses (which I did not submit, since I had no interest in winning per se) were Mithral Chain, Boots of Sure Footing, and Medallion of Nobility :)

I am curious though: You mentioned that there were "hints" as to the identity of the token in your original post. What were those hints supposed to be? (My first guess was that "NOTEworthy" meant a musical instrument of some sort, but Widseth's Lute was ruled out for having a proper name, and Horn of Blasting didn't fit criteria either.)

Just based on this "NOTEworthy" Raven I would have gone with the 'worthy' part. In retrospect/hindsight I can see worthy being nobility, worthy to join the ranks of nobility ect.

Wow, I wake up late today and log onto the forum real quick to see if this token has been guessed yet, and find out that I won! Thanks for the great game Garrison. I'd be interested in having the token. It's not one that I really need, but winning it in this game gives it a value all of it's own.

And Raven, I initially thought that the use of the word "noteworthy" in the original post meant that it was a bard item too!

The Medallion of Nobility is not a token a character equips. That's why it was classified as slotless. If you will sleep better at night thinking it's a neck slot item, be my guest. In the end, it makes no difference if it's slotted or slotless because the token has no benefit other than bragging rights.

Why do you say it's hard to find? I just did a search for "medallion of nobility" and it popped right up.

According to whom? What is your criteria for being "official"?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

I also notice he set the deadline for Monday = MON = Medallion of Nobility. Or maybe that was just coincidence...

I skipped over that token because when I saw medallion I thought "neck slot, doesn't work". I can see that as being valuable. I was also wondering if you were counting reprints, for instance the belt of retrieval, which was reprinted last year. However, I also figured rares that had been reprinted in the past 3 years probably weren't all that valuable.

Re: Do You Want to Play a Game? >:D 10 years 7 months ago #71

To be fair, he never said "valuable." Just "noteworthy." But a lot of us (including me) read that as the same thing :)

That said, when I get my MoN it will be valuable to me. It marks a milestone, of sorts. It'll mean more to me than someone else's would.

It just little old me is all and Drueger, you take it easy since your username is on the token and all. You have to consider all facts before approach a forumite or forumites that is questions. When it me that look at all angle of what True Dungeon offering as far as information go around link to link to that and it's hard to justice the answer to consider what we have to work with. Amorgan's spreadsheet is the most update and most re-version and he take it like a champion. But there no token with his username on it, beside the point. If you look at the Token Guide it said that the Medallion of Nobility is a neck slot, if you want to check for yourself it's there. The same with my Token Guide from 2 years ago. The same could be say for the Character Equipper Program is neck slot for the Medallion of Nobility. But you are the only one with slotless and yet have try to share with other about your official finding on this because I know that the token data base is your realm of expertise. So please don't pretend that Darkangel866 isn't right because all the other resource point the other direction from you. You ever watch Mcguyer the T.V. show, where he gather house old appliance and it work for the first time for escape, but after that it doesn't get excite than that. The same with True Dungeon, the first impression is great, but after years we start to notice a bandage here and bandage there and work load is on back order 6 months to year behind. Since you have seniority change it by share your information on what need to be corrected on this matter and make sure that everyone is on the same page. Remember consistent not only in the Dungeon, it with us.

It was me that notice that you can't use the link to correctly identify Medallion of Nobility as Garrison was trying to show me without using the escape button. Lol.
