TOPIC: Do You Want to Play a Game? >:D

Re: Do You Want to Play a Game? >:D 10 years 7 months ago #49

Ok, after extensive research I think I have the 16 possible tokens.
How I got here:
1) weight clue - token must be a chippie - the weight of a chippie (I'm 99% sure is 11.5g)- a US penny weighs 2.5g and a 1 yen coins weighs 1g, so 4 pennies and 2 yen is 12g (heavier) and 1 less yen is 11g (lighter)
2) No rings eliminates a bunch
3) No completion tokens, etc., another bunch
4) No creatures/proper names another bunch
5) Will not be turned in - means NO consummables or tokens with charges
6) Significant - means Rare, Combo, or UR (plus there are several guesses that were acknowledged to meet criteria that were combo or rare)
7) PYP clue - most misleading clue of all, but after looking through the posts and replies it narrows the choices to any rare, combo, or UR 2007, 2008 tokens AND 2009 or later combo (transmuted) tokens.
8) single digit - another misleading clue, a single digit could be more than one instance of the SAME single digit
9) no amulets worn

That gives us:
2007:
Plate Armor
Cloak of Resistance
Scepter of the Dead
Mithral Chainmail
2008:
Belt of Retrieval
Bracers of Archery
IS: Faceted Amber
Plate Armor
Robe of the Mage
Tower Shield
Boots of Sure Footing
Combo/Transmuted (2009-2013):
Lens of Accuracy
+3 Mithral Bracers
Charm of Heroism
Greater Cloak of Destiny
Yearless:
Medallion of Nobility (not a worn amulet)

Most of these have been guessed, and the only one left not guessed that I deem worthy is:
+3 Mithral Bracers which is my 2nd guess (and last attempt)

That is a good guess, but this come to me as re-read post #1

4.) A player with this token could still receive the max possible treasure pulls (assuming they get all 3 stamps, of course).

That will throw me for a loop if your answer is correct.

Also, I just saw this thread and I hate these sort of guessing games. The lazy part of me doesn't want to put in the effort (which is 90% of me) and the greedy part is certain that even if I did I'd end up getting snipped out of it and would have wasted all that effort for nothing.

Hmmmm, on the backs of all the hard work done before me I will guess the following three:

Robe of the Mage
Tower Shield
+1 Plate (if you need a year I will hazard 2007)

I just want the game to be over. Lol. I don't really care about the token.

And the game is over! No more guesses! Someone has chosen wisely.

I must say, I agree that the guessing game is less than ideal. My original hope was to be more clever with the clues, and have enough clues to where it would be possible to narrow it down to the single correct token. But then I realized the game would be over almost immediately...and I decided to be cruel.

Not the most satisfying experience, I admit. But I did what I could.

Give me a few minutes and I'll reveal the identity of the token!

Medallion of Nobility
Congrats, Adeya! Of course...due to the nature of the token, I understand if you're not actually interested in getting it... :S Sorry if I got people's hopes up for something equivalent to stacks of dollar bills.

For completeness, comments on the remaining guesses:

Zankas wrote: I have checked the token database multiple times and cannot find anything that would have the value that would warrant the effort you put into finding the person.

"Value" is relative. While a lot of people would not get excited about this token, I know that if I lost mine I'd be upset and want it back - hence, valuable.

Cormroc wrote: I have never heard of Zephyr refer to a type of bird.

Ack! I prove myself human again, it seems. I must have been confused by the name of a Magic card...and it seems a zephyr is a west wind. In my defense, it's named after Zephyrus, a Greek god, so it might be considered a proper name...

Hand of Glory?
No, because even with the ring of riches you would not have the Horn of Plenty, and so couldn't get the maximum possible treasure pulls. It is true that you could get the "max possible" pulls for that equipment set-up, but I meant the max possible in the game...except for artifact players...grr, I keep finding exceptions to my clues!

I.S. Violet Prism?
Would eventually be turned in to a room DM.

Mithral Chainmail?
Has already been guessed. Yes, it meets the clues. No, it's not the token I found.

Ring of Focus?
No, it's not a ring.

Boots of Sure Footing?
Bracers of Archery?
More from my list! Both of these fit all the clues...but neither is the token I found. I see now why people don't like this sort of game... :pinch:

Very impressive! The only point you got slightly off was:

JimC wrote: 7) PYP clue - most misleading clue of all, but after looking through the posts and replies it narrows the choices to any rare, combo, or UR 2007, 2008 tokens AND 2009 or later combo (transmuted) tokens.

It could have been one of the regular tokens in 2009. Just not an ultra rare from 2009, as those could have been snatched up with a 2010 PYP order.

JimC wrote: 8) single digit - another misleading clue, a single digit could be more than one instance of the SAME single digit

Clever! Very clever. But unfortunately for your guess of +3 Mithral Gauntlets, I meant a single instance. No dice to the gauntlets.

So, about your list:

Plate Armor - YES
Cloak of Resistance - NO (they have two instances of digits)
Scepter of the Dead - YES
Mithral Chainmail - YES
Belt of Retrieval - YES
Bracers of Archery - YES
IS: Faceted Amber - YES
Plate Armor - YES
Robe of the Mage - YES
Tower Shield - YES
Boots of Sure Footing - YES
Lens of Accuracy - YES
+3 Mithral Bracers - NO (two printed digits)
Charm of Heroism - YES
Greater Cloak of Destiny - YES
Medallion of Nobility - YES

VERY impressive! The only "nos" were due to the assumption about the number of digits. Yes, that was misleading, as were many of the clues...intentionally.

You missed a few though:

Cloak of the Phalanx was a rare from 2009. Since it wasn't a 2009 ultra rare, there was no chance of getting one in a PYP order within the past 3 years.

Arcane Recipe met the clues, but I'm very glad no one made that guess!

Eldrich Runestone is a consumable, true. But it is turned in to a coach, not a room DM. :side: You may be suddenly tempted to check the token database for the other runestones...I assure you they mostly have two digits, and those that don't mess with some other clue.

Something struck me as odd as it was in my token yearbook as yearless. Then it occur to me that not in the TokenData Base at all, which in fact a lot of forumites were looking at to base their justice when decipher the your clues as part of the riddle. It has nothing to do with the PYP pearl say or as your status in the game itself to maxinum your pull without put it on the neck slot where it belong. But who actual does that in the game that I know no one does. It almost like having no effect in the game itself, but outside of it just status. That may be the reason you find it on the floor and lost. I have seen it for sale on e-bay just recently and it didn't sell at all with lowest amount possible as you think it's should be value, but not really, thou.

The Medallion of Nobility is hard to find in the token database, but it is there. It is the only token that is both "slotless" and "yearless". It is also categorized as Appreciation.

I realize it was misleading to say you could use it and still get max treasures, because most people assume it is a neck item. But to be accurate, it is slotless.

Yeah, it is not worth much money. But I still think it is a valuable token, if only to the person it belongs to.

This "game" was not a flawless experiment. Lots of rough edges. But I learned a lot doing it, and it makes me consider trying to do more games...next time with more exciting prizes. :S

Garrison, I know that everyone in my group that has gotten one does treasure it, as it is a neat symbol of a personal milestone. And I agree with you that if someone did lose theirs, some would really regret it.
