28 pulls form the monster box - no monster bits

the rest from the gear box - a HoP, 2 +3 mithral bracers, 2 rings of heroism and a special.

while I am happy to get them I am kind upset I spent so much money in the secondary market prior to the con to get these items.

very glad to see there will be nothing like this next year and I fear what may happen to the secondary market in the mean time

The only significant thing we pulled was a Horn of Plenty.

We will most likely not keep it though.

That is a pretty significant thing to pull. It is one of the most valuable (dollar-wise) tokens out there. Perhaps behind the Rod of Seven Segment 1 though that is in question. Since no +1 rings have sold yet the value on them is undetermined, but I bet they will be well below HoP price.

I, too, was aghast at the relic-heavy pulls this year. Not because I didn't want people to have cool stuff (yay for new players with a chance to pull amazing treasure!) but because of the hundreds of dollars which Crafters spent making their own thru Transmutation. Hearing that this was done through the use of an Arcane recipe (in what I intend to call The Year of Whirt's Bounty)... that makes a huge difference.

Something for all the crafters to keep in mind, though: Every one of us who worked to collect components and craft our Relics ahead of time, we got to have the use of them through the entire Con. We got to plan our builds around them. We got to enter them into the online character generator if we wanted, and know what our stats were going to be. Basically, we went in with knowledge and security, comfortable with our token load-outs. That is worth something too.

For the rest of the treasure... Honestly, I liked the level of UR pulls, and how many "older" URs came out of the treasure boxes. I would love to see that trend continue :)

The Ring of Heroism... that didn't bother me at all with how many were pulled. After all, NO ONE can claim to have invested a huge amount making a Ring of Heroism yet, can they?

Ingredients... Personally I liked the levels. They were a bit low, but normally that means veteran collectors can trade with the newbies to finish up their set(s). This year, so few newbies had ingredients because they all lining up at the "Extra-Rich" treasure generator. If that changes next year, I think ingredients will be back to the right ratio for supply & demand.

I agree with Raven and I had a short conversation with Adeya as well about the "mad lewtz" this year. I LOVED that mostly everything coming out was uncommon, rare, or better. I always felt the boxes should symbolize that huge payday at the end of an adventure, and the treasure should be on average much better than what you'd pull out of the sealed packs for money. I think it would be great in follow on years if the boxes were better stocked with UR's from the current year as well as maybe a few from past years that are throw into the mix. With the number of player now, I think the introduction of more current year URs only helps to improve the "middle of the road" players. That is, those between the casual players who have a handful of tokens from previous years and the "Token Aficionados" (really token-holic makes it sound like we have a problem, and I'm not going to take the first step and admit to having one) that help guide much of the market.

All in all I had a fairly unlucky set of draws (2 draco-lich claw charms, skull of doom, dragon tooth amulet, and 1 genie vapor) but was happy to see a huge portion of the community get some really cool stuff. That all of it came from Whirt's selfless act made it even more extraordinary.

I don't know how many you drew shady but what you listed is pretty good.

Just so everyone know there are always UR's in the treasure box. I had the fortune to pull one last year. Of course the odds are very low, but there has always been the chance. I am pretty sure someone pulled a a 25k bar as well last year but I might be thinking of the year before.

Well, I pulled around 75 tokens for what I listed. Not that they're bad, but I already had a draco-lich charm that I transmuted last year, and the skull and amulet aren't useful to me because of other items I use. I'm sure I'll be able to trade them to somebody who wants them (I already got a +2 Boomstick I wanted for another UR pull I had). Overall it was still better than I've ever pulled before, but I was still a little jealous at the girdles and horns and such that I would've easily found more use for :)

I somewhat agree. I was pleased no commons were in the boxes this year (at least none that I saw or heard about). Personally, if you were to replace all the relics people drew this year with straight purples, and cut the number down to maybe a third of what was used, I think that'd be more than fine.

In my 2 runs between Amanda and I we had 36 pulls. We ended up with a full set of monster ingrediants + a few extras. All of our nice pulls were pulled on Thursday.

Draco Lich Charm
Charm of heroism
Cloak of the mage
+3 ammo

This was with us just randomly drawing between both boxes, we never realized one was loaded, we just thought she had the magic touch.

I pulled 1 common - a Hat of Readiness.

One of our first run party pulled a Whetstone. And was like "Is this a monster bit?"

I told them to let someone know, but I don't think that happened.
