The best team will be determined by

1)if they made it to the final room

2)then if they solved the final room

3)then how fast they solved the final room

We will be timing them and keeping a log inside the final room.

Does the number of team member that make it to the final room factor in? Lets say for example that a group doesn't have all seven players make it to the final room, but they solve it faster than anyone else, would they win?

Kim

Initially, the number making it alive to the final room was a determinant, at least in a previous tournament. However with each golden ticket holder, on average having enough tokens to ensure survival to the last room except in the most extreme circumstances, it probably will not be a significant factor.

Dave

Nope. The number of players does not matter. We will have some non-token collecting VIPs there, so we want to give them a chance to win.

Regarding randomization.......

Let me just clarify how the tokens are sorted and bagged. I'm probably borderline OCD (don't even start w/me Jeff) so this is how I do it, and the consistency is somehow comforting to me.

I start with a 10x10 grid of tokens. This grid is made up of stacks of 7 brown tokens each. Once the 10x10 is done with browns, I remove 1 brown from a corner stack (makes it easier for me to see which one I did that to). Then, I put 2 green on each stack of brown. Then I go back and put 1 red on each stack. Finally, I put one purple on the corner stack. I then take a look to make sure they all look level and nothing looks "short". Then, I move on to the next 10x10 grid. When I'm doing GT bags, it's easier for me to do 3 of the 10x10 grids, which nets 10 GT's. Once I have the 3 grids done, I take my handy little garbage bag, and slide 3 "lines" of tokens into the bag. I close the bag and toss it into a storage bin. Then I move onto the next one and so forth until there are 10 GT bags in the storage bin. Now, once these are done, I have no clue which ones were bags w/purples and which ones were not.

Now, once we ran out of those, I did just use the "bagged" tokens. Obviously, I have no clue what's in those. For clarification, I do the "bagged" the very same way....10x10 grid and then we bag each stack and put the 100 bags into a trash bag. So, there is one "00" in each trash bag of the "bagged" tokens.

I guess I just wanted to lay this explaination out there so that everyone knows how I do it. I know everyone that ordered a GT was hoping for a purple, but that's just not going to happen. It's one per 100, not one per 25. I even went so far for about the 1st thousand bags and bagless that I stuffed to make sure the greens weren't the same. After the first 1000 bags, I thought, this is slowing me down way too much. There are only so many tokens printed, so there are going to be repeats if you order multiple bags.

I try to do this as FAIR as I can. Jeff is always hollering at me to weigh out the browns for the big orders and then count the red/green. I like doing it the way I do it because to me, it just seems the fairest way to do it.

Lori

Hi Lori,

Thanks for the explanation! It sounds, from the way you are doing this, that if someone orders 100 bags, they are almost guaranteed of getting a purple with their order, because you very systematically have every 100th bag with a purple. Does that sound correct? If that is true, I can see people ordering in 4 Golden Ticket increments to guarantee a purple (and that might net 2 purples if since it is 120 tokens and that might catch the purple at the beginning and end of the lot).

After taking the time to organize just the tokens I bought, I can't imagine all the work you've done to do that to 60,000 tokens (with more to come after these sell out). You deserve a medal!!

Mike

oh man i hope i don't get screwed with my Golden Ticket pack i have like nothing cool i really hope i hit a purple token (and i hope its something cool and not another potion of cure light wounds). Last year at Gen Con i didn't get squat or people grabbed the purple first i am hoping to get at least one cool thing to use in the dungeon. I guess i will be able to at least run the golden ticket run.

Deep breaths Trembile. :D

Tokens are not a required element in TD. You will be OK. ;)
