Sounds cool. Might not be worth the money but might be.

I understand the desire to want to get new folks into the transmuting but honestly trying to ocnvince them to go after a relic might not be the best use of their resources. New players just need tokens to fill every slot. While it would be pretty cool to have a newbie sporting a frost giant belt, he'd be better served by having good reds in every slot. I know extreme example but thats the idea.

but back to the topic...
Folk folks that havn't read it yet:
Truecraft: Try your hand at three different encounter areas inside the True Dungeon storyscape to see if you have the talent to Enchant, Abjure or Divine a prize. You can get free tokens, gain in-game immunities, or see a divine clue to a future adventure. Each ticket comes with seven Truecraft tokens that you "spend" to accept a challenge. Once you have your bag of tokens, you have the entire day to spend them

Sounds cool!
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

Ya the newsletter from Gen Con said we are only getting 7 tokens, but I'm hoping that its just a typo and were getting the 8 tokens which is what it says here on TD page.

I'm hoping this is a really cool new addition to the TD experience, I know I'm keeping one of each TC token for my collection.
Its the merging of two worlds that we all crave, the real and the imaginary, that is why we love TD.

The transmutation process used at GenCon 2012 seemed to be simple and straight-forward. The volunteer assisting with the process was helpful. Overall, it seemed like a workable process.
True Dungeon IS teamwork. Tokens offer a better chance of survival for the team. :-)

Thank you! B)

If people do have any suggestions, let me know. But other than a bit more light, better sinage, and maybe a dedicated space. I think it went fairly well. I only had a few long periods of dead time during the con.

The crafting lines were long and extremely slow moving. Some folks told us that you needed to wait in line multiple times. I would wager that they were more popular than anticipated. My group gave up. Perhaps with the popularity of the crafting, perhaps methods for speeding things up would be in order (more stations, less steps, more volunteers).

The trading area was too dark. I could not see. Perhaps more lighting would be in order. I liked how the treasure boxes were by the trading area.

I also found the lines long and exceedingly slow moving. We decided that our gencon time was much too previous to be spending it in line, and bailed.

I think the title of this post should be changed to "Getting non-newbies excited about crafting." I think it is a great idea but needs a lot of work. Somethings that need to be looked into:

1) Lighting - dead horse by now, but it really was an issue all con.
2) Length - the quests took a long time.
3) Useless tokens - the most useless token was divine. If you did it once you never had to do it again. If they could have had an alternate use (sliding for token like the abjure) it would have made them much more useful)
4) Role playing - I loved the role playing by the NPC's but there is a point where too much can be excessive (especially when the lines were so long).
5) Writing on hands - Not a big fan of this one. Perhaps a button, writing on the token (the date and effect) would have been much better.
6) Rewards - Treasure Maps! 500 Silver bars! Earcuffs! Very awesome. Keep this going!

This is definitely true.
For myself, I don't think I'd even bother doing Divining again at all. The lines combined with the fact that it's basically dungeon spoilers makes me averse to it. Also, we ALMOST got the best clue on our first roll, failed and ended up with "There's a monster that's vulnerable to fire." Which I had just assumed there would be a fire-vulnerable monster in a cold-themed dungeon...

I agree the divine was the weakest of the three true crafts. It would not take much to fix it up though, and I think true craft was a great idea that can have alot of mileage in it in the future.

The lines were ridiculous and that needs to be fixed for next year.

The pipe game on sunday was a great surprise to wrap it up.

The rewards were great. Treasure maps were a good idea from their start, and they should have an ongoing role in TD activities. Just bash that idiot at the treasure map reward box that pulled your treasure out of the box for you if you weren't fast enough to suit him. As much as I appreciate volunteers and I have been one for multiple years, there always seems to be one twerp that gets drunk with power.

This was a huge barrier. My friend and I only used the Abjure tokens from our bags; we waited over 40 minutes in line for one of the others, but had to get out of line for a run. We gave up on everything else due to the lines being too long or the stations being shut down.
