TOPIC: Amulet of Wonder 2011???

Re: Amulet of Wonder 2011??? 12 years 2 months ago #49

i dont think there needs to be a reprint policy. If jeff wants to reprint he can. If not then he won't..maybe that is the policy

i dont like the reprints..i do like the alternates (a different UR bard instrument etc)

Laz, I agree that I don't want to see Jeff limit his options by putting a limit on the number of UR's he can reprint in a year. And I think the "Reserve List" for the UR/R/U/C tokens is already announced - it only has one item on it (HoP).

I would be interested in knowing if other tokens are fair game for reprinting or are on some sort of reserve list. For instance, is there the possibility of Combo Tokens, Relic Tokens, Reward/completion Tokens, Dungeon Only Tokens (Alchemist Pouch), incentive tokens (Rod of Seven Parts), or special tokens (Feedback Loop) being reprinted, or are those one-time only? I don't know if that has ever been addressed, and I don't think so far any of those have ever been reprinted.

as to the suggestion that the AoW should be reprinted as part of an upgrade path, how about:

UR - Amulet of Chaos: Copy the effect of another party members amulet (not relic or legendary)

Relic - Amulet of Wonder

Legendary - Discordia's Special Amulet: grants the effect of the UR Special Token.

if the AoW should remain UR, then move Amulet of Chaos to the Relic spot, and it can either be able to copy relic amulets or not...just dont let it copy legendaries (or artifacts if it matters).
this is not a signature.

That makes think: artifact backpack and ur special

That sounds awesome. Last year would have been fun with ten monster sliders.

Right now, I couldn't care less about the AoW being reprinted. I want stuff like Bull's Strength, Cat's Grace, and Salve of Stoneskin back in circulation. >.>
Blimey!

I was thinking about that...

I drew a fair number of tokens from the treasure map boxes, and they seemed heavily skewed towards consumables*. Perhaps the city-scape could have "shoppes" where you were able to pull from a treasure box that was all of a type... an "ammo" shoppe, an alchemist's shoppe, a food shop....

That would get some of that material back in circulation...

*this in no way is a complaint... I LOVED the treasure boxes.

Paul, I love, LOVE the "shoppe" idea. It would also be awesome to have the ability to sell items for GP in the cityscape, but that's probably pie-in-the-sky wishing.

The Blacksmith and Magic shops in the 2005 City were among my favorite things ever with True Dungeon! Even though I'd played True Dungeon since 2003, those shops were the real start of my token buying / trading. It was such fun trading tokens at the shops. I still remember buying some token packs, and trading nearly all of my extra tokens for a Gauntlets of Ogre Power. That was back when even a +1 Weapon was almost impossible to find. I'd love to see some form of those shops return :)

This proves my point, Mike. We have no idea if some things are eligible for a reprint, or not. I would like to see the "reserve" list put into the token guide, even if only HoP is on it. That's more of what I meant.
As for limiting the number of reprints in a year, the secondary market MUST remain stable or growing. Putting out too many older tokens in a short time would destroy the value of tokens collectors and players have already acquired. This will dishearten the player base way more than Smoak did.

I too would welcome the return of the shoppes!

Rocky, I think we are in agreement. I too would be interested to know what the reprint policy is on the various tokens, if Jeff has it figured out. He's already said that HoP is the only UR on the list, but I don't think the reprint policy of tokens that aren't part of the base set have ever been addressed. I seem to remember Jeff saying that combo tokens would only be printed once, but I'm not positive.

I also agree that UR reprints should be kept at a manageable level. Hopefully it stays at the 3-5 range, but I think Jeff should have the flexibility to reprint however many he feels is necessary in a given year.
