TOPIC: Graphical Token Character Generator?

Re: Graphical Token Character Generator? 12 years 6 months ago #61

If I remember correctly CON (Constitution) deals with hit points. WIS,INT,CHA (Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma) are not being used just yet but mechanics will be put in place for them.

There was something about Charisma and Followers mentioned this year during token development.

Fort and Will are Fortitude and Willpower respectively. A fortitude save mean you were 'hardy' enough to shrug off something or part of the effects of something like a blast of cold. A willpower save would relate to things like mind control and charm spells.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

So, here's what I'm working on for those made curious by my earlier questions.

I'm currently designing a mulit-sheet spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel that will act as an offline version of the Token Character Generator.

I figure about about 50% done now, spent a good chunk of time solving logic puzzles for the calculations handling. What I have ahead of me right now is a LOT of data entry, mostly involving finishing building all the item menus and having to populate a page with every token and it's relevant stats.

So when it's done what will it be?? A good way to mess around with character builds.

Here's where I come up short... I'm not a programmer, so writing VB/Macros to enable it to do things like pull and push character information from the TD website is well beyond my skill set. However is someone IS that good, I'd be more than willing to hand it over and let someone run with it.

Either way, once I feel that it's done to the best of my meager Excel crafting abilities, I'll be more than happy to release it to the community.

Well... ummm... yeah actually. Well crap, I had no idea that existed. *sigh* Oh well.

Looking over it, I approach things a little differently with the Stats calculation... and I have no clue how he build his drop down menus.

MorningstarZero wrote: Also, with the Monk, it says his base AC is 16... but his Dex if 15, which would give him a +2 bonus. In the Character generator a naked Monk has an AC of 16... I'm assuming this means that the ability is written on the card for simplicity sake, but mechanically the Monk has a +4 AC class bonus to AC (10 Base, +2 Dex, +4 for being a Monk.) Is this correct?

The numbers don't always add up exactly (the way they would if it was pen and paper). It was always like that with the Paladin and his saving throws (with the older character cards).

Is there a guess as to when the graphical character generator will be updated to work with the 2012 tokens? I can equip them, but there seems to be no effect so far. Examples: Ring of Enervation, Bracers of Fire, Ring of Brilliance all failed to add damage.

Hmmm I figured they were working correctly because they are not guarantee damage. If something is immune to the source of damage. I figured we would have to show them to the DM to say hey I do X amount of extra damage. I could be wrong though. If not if it is on the card and something is immune there is no way for the DM to know what kind of damage it is.

To test that theory, I tried adding the Gloves of the Eel to a hypothetical character. That's shock damage, which something could be immune to, but it's a slightly older token.

That did boost the damage on the party card. So I think it's just kinks remaining to be worked out.

Also, I'm glad DMs don't have to track where every bonus is coming from once the coaches figure it out. DMs already do a heroic job :)

How would they know sacred damage is doing double against undead unless you show it. I agree the DM's have a lot to worry about but I think it would be cheap if you get your damage bonus for darkrift against Smoak.

For major battles, that's the kind of situation we've had the "one-room bonus" section for in the past. I think usually if a monster has a special vulnerability or immunity the DM could just tell the players to point out those kinds of damage as it's tallied.

That makes sense. It still doesn't get around immunity though.

Interesting...

Ring of Enervation, Ring of Brilliance, and Bracers of Fire all require the wearer to wield a melee weapon. The former two (Everv. & Brill.) require a two-handed melee weapon.

I tried equipping a two-hand melee weapon first, in case it was checking for that, but it didn't make a difference.

This same behavior manifests in the 2012.5 version of the Excel file David released.

Please keep looking for and reporting anomalies—it's really appreciated!
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
