Here is my idea for a Token Inventory program that could be made to interface with the Character Generator program so that only owned tokens would appear in the gird as each slot is selected. Thus, whatever you enter in this program would be the only token images that would show up in the Character Generator program OR you could just hit the toggle to allow ALL tokens available in each slot.

Feedback?

Jeff,

I'd suggest doing the Character generator first, and then doing the token inventory later and tying them together.

I'd definitely do the Token Inventory if it worked like the last one did, where you had a column for what you had, what you were willing to trade, and what you were looking for - and if you could search an individual token to see everyone that has one for trade and everyone looking for one. I really miss that functionality, and I think it would increase the feeling of a token community.

We could do that, but does everyone think it will get used all that much? I mean...it would take LOTS of work to enter all your tokens...are you all sure you would want to do all that work before doing the character generator. It would be cool if the program would have two settings:

1) allow any token usable for that slot

2) allow any token usable for that slot that the player lists as owned

What do you guys think? Would you use a token inventory program? I can't see anyway to enter tokens other than having say all the token images of a year and rarity on the screen with a little numerical entry box next to each image. Collectors would enter them in manually like that.

What do you all think about all these ideas?

I'm not sure that I fully understand the whole question but I have somewhat of a response. I play Heroclix, on our forum they have a units sections, which could be for TD a Token section. Under units is every heroclix that have ever been made. Under each individual unit there are three buttons, Have, Keep, Want. The have tab is for clix that you have but are willing to part with, Keep is clix you have but are not willing to trade and Want is for clix that you want. This makes dealing with other players incredibly easy because every forum player can just check what a player has and is offering. It is very easy. I think that may be what some of you are talking about. There is no place to list what we have and are willing to trade. More of us would probably be trading if there was a place we could list our tokens. I don't know if that is what MSteele is talking about, but I would use this if were available.

Wow. Heroclix is still around? I wrote my second big fanfic on those forums...


I presume this program would be Java based?

I like the idea, but I really wish there was a way to verify the tokens. Right now anyone could pick anything, for fun, and it would fall to the coached to verify that the player actually had those tokens. Though I suppose it would still be easier than going over the tokens and calculating them.

I would suggest again the program I would like to work on if I get some time: a phone app that lets the coach take a picture of the player's selected tokens, and tells them if the set is legal, and what the coach should write on the party card.

That sounds very much like what I was talking about, it was fantastic in the early days for trying to find tokens - I remember contacting everyone that had a +1 Heavy Repeating Crossbow (all 2-3 of them) to try to work a trade out.

What is the link for the Heroclix forums with this mechanic? I'd like to check it out.

and yes Xavon lol, heroclix is still around, very much around, large as ever. In fact a new set came out on Wed. If you know how to play we should play a round next year!

I dearly miss the integrated token database- it was absolutely great to set up trades. Even more, it got me talking and messaging other forumites, so it was a nice way to make friends with other players- strengthening participation in True Dungeon.

If True Dungeon wants to move a bit more back into advocating Token TRADING vs Token SELLING, then then ability to share HAVE/KEEP/WANT as part of the forums would be terrific.

We are now looking into making the Token Trading program available. Thanks for the idea. And hopefully it will toggled into the Character Generator program as well...so that you can only pick from the tokens you own.

I definitely agree. I would love to see more TRADING (as opposed to SELLING).

In fact, if I had to choose, I would rather see the Inventory Functionality over the Character Generator.

The DC75 set for heroclix lured me back to the game... the new sculpts from the last couple sets are great (MUCH better than the older ones) and getting rid of duplicate miniatures (REV sets) so that there's more variety in each set was great!!!
