TOPIC: The Three Artifacts...

Smak's artifact is a huge power boost for his entire party, at the cost of maybe burning a heal on the second round of combat.<br /><br />... Actually, that's not even always a downside. I've seen monsters open up with a save-or-die damaging spell, and splitting the damage would be a lifesaver.

<br />Are the artifacts class specific?   I presume they are restricted to the player and not a specific class, although some are obivously designed with certain classes in mind.  <br />

<br />Artifacts are Soul-bound to the creator, so they only work for that person, and no one else.<br /><br />From the Token Guide page 110 <br />

<br />Only one copy of the item will be made, and that item will be “soul bound to the player” (i.e., only the player can use in the game).<br />

<br /><br />Ahhh, I see your point, my guess is yes, as long as that class could use that mace (which eliminates rogue, wizard, and druid) he could.  Which is why I think Smakdown's choice is one of the best, but knowing Gearon has been a cleric most of his TD career, I don't seem him stepping out into something else.<br />

<br /><br />Actually I have been known to Paladin and Fighter it up from time to time.  Just keep me away from being the Rogue, or Wizard, me likes armor and a BOOM STICK!

I'm happy just being a song and dance man.  Although I think my sword will work well for my paladin, ranger, fighter, and barb personas.  Of course I always wonder, am I controlling her, or ... hmm is she telling me what to do?  All I know is that when I was talking to Death Dancer last night, (oops--probably shouldn't have used her proper name) she said she plans to be in Smoak's face until ... well, she got all emotional.  It was either give Smoak the kiss of death or pick my remains out of his teeth.

Okay, am I somehow missing something?  Smak's artifact basically is equivalent to 24 UR tokens (Might Set of 3 times eight people) while the others are equivalent to at best 2-3 URs (Gearons = 1x Dougal's Cloak, and 1 Fly and Widseth = 1 Mithral Longsword and 1 Widseth's Lute (maybe).)  <br /><br />Now I understand if he had to pay a higher price, but come on... Were the others even aware of the potential to do this?  I think that 24 URs worth for an artifact is a bit high...<br /><br />Just my 2 cents...

Jeff and I are hopefully going to come to some acceptable arrangement very soon.  <br /><br />It is not at all about what was asked for in payment for the artifacts in question.

Jeff and I are working this out amicably.  <br /><br />The issue was one of my expectations being wrongly set due to a mistake made early in the negotiations on what powers an artifact could have.  <br /><br />It's all going to be good, and hopefully artifacts stay around for many more years to come!

One of the nice things about the Artifact tokens is that since the tokens only have a minimal amount of information on them, you could theoretically renegotiate the terms. (i.e. if there was a misunderstanding, you could always redo the creation and adjust the powers). All you have to do is change the description!
