Well, it's getting time to start thinking about them! I am looking for something that could pull double duty for Halloween and next year's TD.

So I am looking at this "Warrior Armour Plain":
http://www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/Body_Armour.html

What do you think? Should I get it in black or the Dark Red that is shown at the top of the page?

Then I am thinking the following accessories (In a matching color, of course):

Bracers:

Boots (the taller ones)

The Boots are Minetankas (SP?) - I have them - about $60 at Boot World I think...

Just be sure you buy 1/2 size bigger than you need as you will be putting in a gell sole to add cushion.

These only come in whole sizes, but do have a 1/8" cushioned insole. Thanks for the link though, Gary--I'll check it out.

I have a pair of those boots too. Mine are about...counting...15 years old. And yes, you WILL want to put in an after-market insole.

Doh! Boot World must be a local store. The website with the same namesake has no similar boots. Curses!

The top of the boots look tight. Is there room to tuck in pant legs?

They are not a major brand for them...but the store should have them...unless they are getting rid of them...

I had to custom order mine as black was a must and they only had brown.

I like the red and black mix. Your choice of costume should look "spiffy." I have always loved Halloween and the costumes and I'm sure you will lots of fun with it!

If you have a little money to spend, this site can be a real treat. It is on ebay and it is a group of craftsmen in the Ukraine. Their costuming is authentic Eastern European design from the 11th to 15th centuries. The quality and service is fantastic (from personal knowledge).

I have bought several pieces from them and have struck up a friendship. They are wonderful people to deal with.

I also have the same boots Gary has. Insoles a must. The can be found in several online stores. Quality is good.

The boots that I was wearing at GenCon were from Son of Sandlar:

The "Peasant Boots" were the particular ones that I was wearing. Fairly comfortable, waterproof to the full height, and they have great treads. I picked them up at the local Renn Faire (same price as the web site).

I wore them around 16 hours a day for 3 days - no blisters, although I have to admit my feet were complaining by the end. (I'm normally seated for my "day job")
