So - who's seen it so far and what did they think?

I've seen it twice, and LOVED it! It's the most fun I've had at a movie since Iron Man last year, the sequel can't come soon enough!

I have seen it.

Trust me, the less I say about it, the better.

Oh, just because I loved it, doesn't mean I wouldn't be interested in hearing why you didn't.

To me, nobody will ever replace the original crew (this coming from someone who had Shatner's Kirk as one of his heroes growing up), but they can't make movies with the original cast anymore, so I'd rather the characters lived on past the original actors than fade away, and I thought this cast did a great job with the characters - and really did a lot to restore the joy & optimism of the original series that was lost in the follow-on series.

Oh, I understand that. I just didn't want to speak on it because doing so on another forum lead to a bit of a flame war, seeing as how a couple of people had very strong opinions on it. I really don't want to risk a repeat of that.

Come on, no one on this forum would do that! ;/

Anyway, I liked it more than I thought I would. Definitely thumbs up from my gaming group. If I can get my wife to go see it I'll see it again.
I did see it and I could have lived without viewing it. On the bright side I guess I can say I did't fall asleep like I have with other movies.

I saw it and I loved it! I am so owning this movie when it comes out. Even though I don't remember the first one I have seen every Star Trek movie in the theatre...went home sobbing from the second one...cringing from the fifth because my mom jumped up in the theatre and cheered when they blew up the shakesperean klingon...ah the memories :)...
I really enjoyed this one though. I can't believe how well the actor who played Bones delivered those lines and then there was the traditional death of the red shirt and the part where Kirk did the cheesy Shatner pause when he was mocking somone and then well I could go on :).
I was concerned about the guy I knew as Silar from heroes playing Spock because I am a huge Spock fan and while Silar was great as a really creepy guy I wasn't sure about him as Spook but I have to admit he sold me on it and by the time the movie was over he was Spock :)

Jennifer
. . . when they blew up the shakesperean klingon...ah the memories :)...

And, just like memories, fallible, that happened in the sixth one ;)

I feel the casting of the movie was quite good. As for the rest... I will defer to the usual attorney statement 'no comment'.

The only Trek DVD I own is Wrath of Khan, and I'll probably pick up ST 4 someday, but I think I'll also get this one when it comes out.
