Oh, I forgot this point...

TD is not a LARP because there is no 'role playing' in TD. There are no character personalities that you are supposed to play in TD. As Raven said, the 'RP' in LARP is 'role playing' very literally. You play a role, a character.

LARPs are very much like improv theater, except structured in plot, setting, and goals.

I role-played my TD character last year, but it was as an aside. There was no need to, I just thought it would be fun.

*smiles* Hi Tom,

Thanks bunches for all the info! I really appreciate it! People here toss around alot of things, and for the most part I get the jidst of things, but sometimes it is a bit more helpful to have a better idea of things. But hey, all else fails just bluff your way through, one thing I've learned about working with the public: So long as you act like you know what you are doing most people will believe it. ;)
Who knew years of working as a castmember for a theme park would have come in so handy for helping friends with a event. *little laugh*

And again, thanks for all the info, greatly appreciated.

Yes yes, I too wonder. Was going to ask at the time but decided not to. But hey, since we are inquire, dare we ask.

Nice to know I'm not the only one needing things explained. Gives me someone to duck behind when they get annoyed with all these questions.

I'm not for sure, but I believe git is British slang for stupid jerk.

That's about correct.

git

n : a person who is deemed to be despicable or contemptible; "only a rotter would do that"; "kill the rat"; "throw the bum out"; "you cowardly little pukes!"; "the British call a contemptible person a `git'" [syn: rotter, dirty dog, rat, skunk, stinker, stinkpot, bum, puke, crumb, lowlife, scum bag, so-and-so]

:) 'Git' is used a number of times in the Potter books, usually in reference to one particular individual...one of my favorite bits of British slang.

I'd consider playing in an event like this, but the timing would be the biggest factor in my willingness to play. Is it on a night when TD is running? Then sorry - I'm already booked.
If it's Sunday and doesn't conflict with the TD Riddle Reveal, then I'd probably sign up. I've already had to opt out of most other LARP-style events I was interested in due to their schedules conflicting with my TD volunteer hours.

Well, 'a night TD is running' pretty much excludes every day of Gen Con except Sunday, doesn't it? What hours does TD run from/to?

Our LARPs pretty much run Thurs and Fri, with an occasional run on Sat. But it would be ridiculously hard to get 20+ people to show up to a Sunday game.

I believe parties depart from 9 am all the way through to Midnight.

That midnight run is when the group goes IN. They get out of TD at 2 AM.
