Slip and slide's are not deadly..at least no more so than natural selection, and 4 wheelers

Besides....Slip and slide are way more fun, and less expensive than a 4 wheeler

but do not ever string 8 of them together and run them down a 45% slope into a pond...

You can skip across the pond and hit the other side......theoretically

I think it is just an age thing - on the slip and slide...as long as you are young and still bendable...it works just fine...once you get old and stiffen up - it is lethal!

hmmm admission to GarCon 1...have to think that one over...I can totally pull it off the next time the wife and kids go on a trip and leave me home to work....

*makes mental note not to let this idea go...*

*wonders how much a roundtrip ticket to Garcon1 would be*

Kim

I was a volunteer for Comic-Con one year, and I thought it was totally NOT worth it. Very much a hassle. Sounds like Gary volunteeted for a particular company, not for Comic-Con itself, and it was very positive for him.

My gaming group sometimes holds DebCons (at Deb's house) when there is a con in the area in order to save money.
oh yes...the Bandai guy had my badge already - so all I did was call him the first day - then once I got my badge I walked right in.

Bandai was a great company to VOL for - the last day - they gave away a TON of extra stuff that they did not want to haul back to headquarters. I seriously got maybe 20 toys for my kids - plus tons of free product (which was part of the VOL agreement) - Teen Titan cards, Narnia Drapt, Zatchbell, etc.

We turn the back yard into a waterpark...

We have a 14 foot rocket waterslide, a 12 foot landing pool - another 12 foot play pool, water guns, hose spraying toys, water balls, just about everything you can imagine...although we tossed the slip and slide - those things are deadly!

Sounds fantastic! I heard of a family who, once a year, for a week baked cakes, pies, made jello, pudding etc, and then completely taped off the inside of their garage with plastic and then on Saturday had a massive family food fight. I heard about it from a guy who dated one of their daughters and was invited (usually only family was invited). The idea was to take out all your aggression on family members in one day and get it over with. I thought it was a great idea, but didn't want everyone in the family throwing stuff at me and no one else.

Widseth

I go to origins every year. It's quite relaxing really. It's my, I don't need to run around like a crazy person, con. Everything is just far more laid back.

Comic-Con is that for me. I don't have to fly, I stay in a hotel and take the train in so no parking worries. The lines suck, and the crowds are ridiculous. I think it's outgrowing San Diego.
Everything I've ever heard about comic con makes me not want to go. It sounds like a stampede situation waiting to happen. The police actually prevented people from entering the building last year (the one in NYC) because it hit capacity and couldn't even accomodate all those who had bought badges. I just can't see paying money to stand in queues all day. Reminds me of the feedback I heard from star wars celebration a couple years ago.

Comic Con sold out one day well in advance (SAT) and I think it sold out one or two more as the event closed in.

The last two cons I went to were really overly packed - and not much fun! Imagine INDY with maybe 30% more people but in walkways with less space.
