Stardust is different from the book (no surprise there) but they made some excellent choices on where to make changes. They took great advantage of the visual opportunities afforded by the media of film, and the pirate scenes they added were fabulous. The feel of the movie is very much the same feel as the book - total fantasy, drawing you in, and weaving a spell which catches you in its thrall.

It deserves a place with Princess Bride and Labyrinth, and I'm sure it'll stand the test of time.

I keep hearing rumors from time to time that 'Last Unicorn' is going to be redone, or was redone, but have never been able to find anything too concrete.

All those classics...wow...now I want to see them all, and buy them all. Right when I've got no paychecks coming in for a few weeks. Damn you all <laughs>.
Willow is ok - but the acting is pretty bad. I think that is why Legend is so awesome...Tim Curry is one mean devil!

I like and own both Willow and Legend, but of the two, Willow is more memorable for me. Willow was a great adventure film with all the trimmings, a quest with action and humor. By contrast, Legend, while good...was just plain weird.

I remember going to see The Dark Crystal when it originally came out in theaters. My dad was really into those type of movies.

Kim

My mom was into horror movies... she made me watch them with her even when I was a little kid.
Then she would do things like hide rubber hands under my pillow.

And I have to wonder why I'm so messed up and evil....?
Isn't there a new flick due out soon from the makers of LABY and Dark C?

Mirrormask, by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean, was released by Jim Henson Productions. It wasn't a sequel, per say, to Labyrinth; but it was developed as a follow-up to Labyrinth. The story and dialogue were not as compelling as Labyrinth, but the visual composition was amazing.

And the Henson Company is in pre-production for The Power of the Dark Crystal, scheduled for release in 2009. This actually is a proper sequel, with Brian Froud helping out with the designs again (Froud's art was responsible for the look of the original movie).

If you like fantastical storytelling by the Henson company, I would also highly recommend Jim Henson's The Storyteller.

Mental Note: see if Stardust is on Netflix.

Have and watched the rest of them, either recently or as a child, or both. Good memories there.
