TOPIC: Robert Jordan Dies

Re: Robert Jordan Dies 16 years 7 months ago #25

<br />Maybe it is good that the final book will be written by someone else.  I wish that would have happened with Harry Potter!<br /><br /><br />

<br /><br />What didn't you like about the last Harry Potter book?

I'm trying to guess what jeff's complaint might be. There are a lot of possibilities to choose from.<br /><br />Ending sucked ass?<br />Reliance on flashbacks shows weakness in writing?<br />Trite and banal 'afterlife purgatory' scene?

<br />Is there any official word the series is being continued? Only definitive thing I've ever seen from RJ is ages back he said he didn't finish due to death he was having all of his crap burned.<br />

<br /><br />There were several post by "Wilson" (Jordan's Cousin) who talked about RJ making detail notes, audio tapes and such with information to go into the book.   It seemed from the posts that RJ was trying to ensure the story got finished even if he wasn't there to finish it.   <br /><br />Here is a post by a different author on the subject (I am still trying to find the Wilson posts):<br /><br /> www.wotmania.com/wotmessageboard2showmessage.asp?MessageID=68400

He USED to say things would be burned, but he seemed to have mellowed somewhat need the end to the thought of someone completing the last book:<br /><br /> www.forbes.com/2006/11/30/robert-jordan-illness-tech-media_cx_hc_books06_1201jordan.html

I love the George R. R. Martin series; it's complex, and show the world from many different angles.  Another author / series I'd reccomend is Steven Erikson's "the Malazan Book of the Fallen"  book 1 is Gardens of the Moon...It's a very complex storyline, but to me it's also Very captivating reading...
-Master Li Lou Bahn, Terror of the East, Master of Shadows, Pillager of the province of Ch'in, Mandarin of the Emporer Shou Wei, Ambassador to the foreign devils of the West, and the most dangerous ninja in all of Greyhawk."cause I'm the only ninja in all of Gwehawk!!!"
