Can I get a reason as to why a particular thread was locked?  What was so offensive that it needed to be locked?

Thank you Fritz.    I'm usually on the "free speech" side of the fence but this was clearly over-the-top and I think you absolutely did the right thing.  I wanted to reply to an email that Mock sent me but looks like I'll have to do that here. <br /><br />

<br />Dougl,<br /><br />With all do respect and no offense intended, I'm not here to live up to your expectations.  You found my post about baby jesus to be offensive, and I found it to be funny and even necessary given the comments of Widseth.  In my opinion his post was rude, over the top, and blatantly unnecessary.  I am the owner of two cats and I guess we look at the world differently.  It's as simple as that.<br />

<br /> <br /> i have to agree with douglas on this. i KNOW i offend folks with my views/ideolgy, but since i know that, i take care to watch what i write out (PG-13 forum). if the offense was not realized....just sad.  =(

Anybody else notice we just got a volunteer email full of references to not doing things because of how it would make Baby Jesus feel? I realize some people care a great deal about that, and I have no problem with their caring, but what about those of us who don't? I don't support comments along the line of what Mock apparently said, but that's gotta go both ways. If it weren't for the fact that I took it as a joke, I would have been both insulted and offended to be told what to do in the name of Baby Jesus, because I personally apply no special significance to it. Heck, I almost deleted the email as spam when I saw those words in the subject line, just before recognizing the sender and realizing what it was.<br /><br />The safest thing I've discovered is to leave religion and religious ideology or references completely out of online forums not specifically designed for them. Humans have created this concept of "belief," and when a person believes something, whether positive or negative, they get awfully feisty about defending it. When online, and lacking those contexts that face-to-face discussion provides, things get out of hand on an almost 100% basis. So, again - while I don't support attacking, insulting, or belittling the beliefs of others, remember that the promotion or protection of one specific belief at the cost of others is just as bad.

Maybe it is time for me to say something.<br /><br />First off.  I hold no ill will toward anyone.  Thank you to all of you who have contacted me privately and on the forum to express your concern.  Douglas said it well when he said this is a forum of friends.  If Mock has been suspended, I am truly sorry.  I would welcome him back if the powers that be are willing.<br /><br />I am sorry for the uproar.  The response to me simply saying I was offended by the tone of the thread floored me, and I didn't even see the later posts intended to offend me before they were deleted.  I chose not to respond because I don't believe in flaming or in degrading other people.  A good friend reminded me this morning that no one ever really wins an argument. You can only beat the other person to the ground and cause resentment.  I choose not to do that.  <br /><br />Thank you for your support.  Thank you Fritz.  I'm sorry my simple comment put you in the judgement seat.  Thank you Jeff for the wonderful world of True Dungeon.  In no way do I ever want to see Jeff's creation put in jeopardy.<br /><br />Thanks.<br /><br />Widseth
