TOPIC: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows 16 years 9 months ago #13

Personally I like the newspaper strategy, in order to make the next day run - they had speed readers read the book and provide their feedback. I think I read some place that the book was read in 47 minutes and 1 second.

I really liked how she ties up some of the final pieces using that cool device. A whole chapter relegated to it.

Don't tell people summaries. They need to go read the book themselves and enjoy it.

At a few hundred pages a day, I was done by Sunday evening. That included waiting in line for 1.5 hours at the Walmart and a day long birthday party Saturday.

Azkaban is still my fave of the HP books, but this one was really good. I liked the final chapter, but would have liked more info on even more characters. Some of the deaths really hit me.

Now this question qualifies for a spoiler alert, even though it really doesn't give any information about what happens in the book. People with answers can PM me.

So...

[move]SPOILER ALERT[/move]

Does anyone think Hugo and Rose are named for anyone?
I still can't decide if I enjoyed Deathly Hallows more than Goblet of Fire. That was my favorite up to this point. It's so hard to compare each book to one another since they each serve a different purpose.

Kim

We were telling Harry Potter fans at the local con that Ron got Hermione pregnant and she dies after a botched abortion in Knockturn Alley.

"Aborticus Feticus!

No, no! Moron!

It's AH-borticus Feticus! Now she's hermmoraging!"

Well, given that the book is written for children, an intelligent adult can read the book in a matter of a couple of hours.

I think the books stopped being completely written for children about three books ago. I also think that there are plenty of intelligent adults out there who are taking at least 7 hours or more to read the book. That does average out to over 100 pages an hour which I think is a decent rate of reading.

Kim

Too true!

Loved the shirt! But HP didn't use the stone to defeat Voldemort in book 1, but prevented him from getting it.
