TOPIC: Construction...

So.. lets say that for ones own amusement, one were to be curious what one would use to build a slider table and sliders for tokens to fit into. What materials would one need, what do they use up at TD? Say one were to want to (for personal use) build a table and sliders for ones own amusement. Would there be any suggestions on materials to do this with?

Well I did think of that.. but I was pretty sure there was something non-standard about them that made me make said above post. I dunno, maybe I am just overcomplexing the issue. =D

I am not sure it is a big secret, you can figure out how they are made by just looking closely.<br /><br />The boards are luon with a slick surface coating, used in trailers and businesses for cheap quick wall coverings, many HW stores carry the stuff.<br /><br />The sliders, they are acrylic, they are laser cut however, so making some with a router maybe a bit more difficult.  Getting a handful laser cut would be pricy.  The bottoms of the sliders are plain felt furniture pad/disks.<br /><br />Now the more difficult trick here is having someone with a sign shop, who can create the very expensive full board sized images and damage regions in sheet vinyl.  Then there is the skill from experience to place said very expensive vinyl appliqué on the board without screwing it up.<br /><br />Oh yah, you also need a talented TD affiliated artist to create the really cool combat board image and design.  <br /><br />So really, it is not hard at all….<br />

Well well well.. its all falling perfectly into place Smithers.<br /><br />Eeeeeeeeexcellent (much wringing of hands).

Tom Gowen is the artist who does all the combat boards.  Wait until you see what he has created this year.  Awesome stuff.  I really love one in particular as we used the 1st edition version for that monster.<br /><br />Oh...that reminds me...all you token collectors.  Remember that packing that came in your token order?  That was used paper liner from a used vinyl roll.  Some of you got the used liner from the monster combat boards.  If you would have looked closely at the liner, you could have seen the faint impression of what this year's monsters will be.  We have already made up those boards, and we kept the used paper for packing.<br /><br />Did you make your DC 30 Spot check?
