The stars under your Forum ID and above your avatar...they are linked to the number of posts...but several of us came to this forum with MAX star # of posts...so we were stuck at one star...

Oh, is that why? Haha! I always thought that we were just 1 star forumites. =)

Hey, if it's any consolation, I still have one star. (until I post a few more times....)

That is my fault.

There is technically a relationship to the number of stars and the number of posts. The problem is that many of you are placed in multiple groups. If you are only in the "general" group, the stars represent the number of posts. If however, you had been placed in the volunteer group or some other group for special access, that groups "star" settings overwrote the standard star to post relationship.

So all the people who had many posts, but only had one star were being forced to show the fixed number of stars for the "special" permissions group they were added to, e.g. "volunteers".

I was doing some forum maintenance yesterday and decided that the special groups deserved more stars than just one, so I set all the special volunteer groups to 4 stars.

So what do the stars mean?

If you are a general forum member the number of stars (and the member status name) are linked to the number of posts

If however you have special privleges, e.g. because you are a TD volunteer, you may have a different member status name and a different number (or color) of stars, because an admin decided so. Right now that is 4 gold stars.

I am still working through the cleanup of all of the member groups, it will take some time, and I may never get finished. But I figured I would make a stab at it.

OK, more information than you wanted to know, but I can’t abridge so…

General forum members:
Stars and ranks are based on post count, they are:
Newbie, 0-49 posts, 1 star
Jr. Member, 50-99 posts, 2 stars
Full Member, 100-249 posts, 3 stars
Sr. Member, 250-499 posts, 4 starts
Hero Member, >= 500 posts, 5 stars

Special access forum members (still working this out):
Stars are fixed and set by the Admin, they are currently set at 4 stars regardless of post count with a couple of 5 star exceptions.
Rank names can correspond to the post count or the special access group name, but I have not figured that one out yet.

Dave
