Heh.

Well, I am now officially in the hiring pool for Dow Corning. Essentially, I'm in and it's now a matter of when, not if, I'll get hired.

All I have to do is convice 'em when I go in for a site interview that I'm one of them that they should hire first.

So, work has been upgraded from hell to purgatory. Just as bad as hell, but I now there's a way out and now have some hope.

Woohoo! Am glad to hear that news. Now hopefully they'll get you in sooner instead of later.

Next Wednesday, the 18th, I go for my first (and hopefully only) site interview. If I make it through this, I'll actually be hired on. I won't be starting for a couple months, but they will be a happy couple months.
I know you'll do fine, it's the luck of doing it this close GC. I'm in my 3rd week of my new job myself(actually posting this during my training class), and it's a ton better than GameStop. Good luck, but you don't need it.

Bit of interview advice...

1.) Wear your best clothes. I know of one person we interviewed that was perfect for the job, but we didn't hire him because he showed up in khaki pants and a T-shirt. Dressing up shows you really want the job.

2.) Go into the interview knowing that you're the best person for the job. Have the attitude that if they don't hire you, they're stupid. Your confidence will make them realize they should hire you.

Jenett

Oh, I've never blown an interview like this in my life. Not that worried...just the normal low-level jitters.

Would be working at Hemlock Semiconductor, a division of Dow Corning. Basically, making/harvesting silicon. Better than half of all chips in electronic devices come from silicone made in Hemlock. Kinda cool. Might be able in time to get into skilled trades too.

GameStop? Someone worked at a GameStop? Cool. I was, at one point, a manager of a Software Etc/Babbages which went under a couple times until GameStop came along and bought 'em all up. My particular store was in a strip mall that was bulldozed.

Heh.

Mine was a strip mall location to, but it sucked a big one. I think it was more of just the managers(store and district) that just made it unbearable. I was told that I could have had my own store in less than a year, but it just wasn't worth the headache anymore.
