TOPIC: First Flight!

First Flight! 17 years 1 week ago #1

I am bored out of my mind and crazy homesick, so I need something to occupy my time, so I will tell you all about my lovely weekend. On Friday I left good ole Flint, MI for a student government conference in Philadelphia. We flew a whole 15 mins. from Flint to Detroit and it was all crazy turbulence. I felt like I was riding a pirate ship ride at a carnival. Now, that was the first time I had ever been on a plane mind you...but I didn't freak out. I actually was able to enjoy it and I joked about it quite a bit. The flight from Detroit to Philadelphia was wonderful. Very little bouncing around and I loved seeing the tops of the clouds. AND I got a skymall catalog! The conference was fun and informative. We got to go to the largest mall in the northeast... Overall a fun trip, even if the hubby couldn't come. Then we get to the airport this morning and get loaded on our plane and we're ready to go, storm and all. But, nope... There is a leak in the windshield and they ground us. We waited in line for two and a half hours before getting to the counter to find out the earliest flight they have is for 7:45pm tomorrow. So we're stuck in a hotel in the middle of nowhere, with no money left and only one laptop between the four of us. With the storm, the local news station is saying that the flights tomorrow could be grounded, so I may not get home until Wednesday. Does anyone have any ideas on how to combat a crazy case of homesickness?

Click the heels together of your red shoes?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Sorry to hear that you are stuck and without money. The good thing is that it is temporary. Count the days to GenCon. And I'll see you soon.

 Would you believe we actually tried that? Hehehe. Believe me, I've been counting the days to GenCon since last year. Despite the number of trips I'm taking this year, that is still the one I'm looking forward to most. I'm sure that all the people I know that don't go are sick of hearing about it already. I wish it were closer.
