TOPIC: Gen Con SPA program; call for submissions!!!!

Over on the gencon forum there are discussions of spa events for the gamer widowers.  Thats why is 'Spouse' and not 'Wives'. <br /><br />*hugs* No need to get feminista on poor Mari.

And take it from someone that sews...scrapbooking and Kendo were not screaming "chicks only."<br /><br />I was going to suggest Tai-Chi...and maybe some "share time"...where people have like 5 minutes of floor time to share cool things/resources they know.

Gary,<br />    I thought volunteers had to be at least 16.  Some guy dropped his 14 year old brother in the tavern last year to spend hours in there.  I remember that the kid wanted to volunteer but he was told he wasn't old enough.<br /><br />Kim

<br /><br />Absolutely not!  We had guys participate in lots of events last year; including the Karate class, Yoga class, the wine tasting, and the cooking class.  At least, those are the ones I definitely saw guys participating in.  While there do appear to be more "gamer widows" than "gamer widowers" than Gen Con, on the whole, and I think that is reflected somewhat in the sort of SPA programming that is offered; I'm definitely aware that there are gamer widowers out there, and we're trying to offer programming that would appeal to them as well.  I'm definitely open to considering most any idea people have for a SPA event; again, please feel free to contact me if you're interested in running a SPA event, or have a great idea for a SPA event and the contacts for it. Actually this sounds like a good idea for gamers that want a little diversity in their GenCon weekend too.  Although I don't know how many gamers would be into things like scapbooking.  =P  <br /><br />Now "Token Tote construction"... theres something we could get behind!  Hell, you could even start a movement for the spouses... making things for the gamer!  And Joyus could teach a sewing class!  :cool:

<br />I've been involved in just such SPA discussions over on the GC forum. One main problem. Sewing machines. :\<br />And alot of people are kinda wanting sewing info now, so they can work on stuff before the con. So I've been posting costume help. <br />People post pictures of what they want to make and I post patterns to use and items to have on hand, and other sewing tips.<br /><br />I've also mentioned cake/cupcake decorating, but it seems there are enough gals over there that already possess the equipment and skills that I need not worry about it. <br />Besides the way things are shaping up I don't expect to spend much time outside of the tavern this.
