Re: Another proud papa moment... 17 years 1 month ago #1
It cannot be helped, I am compelled to post another proud papa moment. My little lad turned 1 a couple weeks ago. Just recently he took his first step and I was lucky enough to catch it on camera.

I may have taken a little creative liberty with it... enjoy. I'm sure there will be more of these to come.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7340999824634835498

That is too cute! I'm home with a "sick" Drake today (faked a stomach ache to come home and watch TV and play NDS) and he was watching the video over my shoulder. He said "Wow...that's so amazing". Then he got a bit worried because he saw the dog coming (he's scared to death of dogs) and after it ended he goes "Phew, I was afraid that dog was gonna eat that baby". DRAMA KING!!!!

Very cute, Stu...he's a beautiful boy. Maybe Jeff will let him date Avery some day!

Lori

Hey, what a great idea Lori! I was looking for a way to become more connected with TD and D-Forge! =D I'll be sure to bring him up right and indoctrinate him to the world of gaming early. I know how important it is to impress the potential father-in-law.

Yep, tell Drake that the baby is just fine and that dogs are wonderful, fluffy, kiss-giving animals. Tell you what, drop him off at my house this year during GenCon and he can meet my 4 dogs. We'll get him over that fear. :O

Oh, if only that would work. This kid has a SERIOUS issue with dogs. He hates them all...small ones, big ones; doesn't matter. Heck, we got 2 kittens last fall hoping that it would help him get over his fear of animals and for a couple of months, he was DEATHLY afraid of those darned kittens! (Now I'm stuck with 2 rotten cats that Drake tolerates)

Maybe one of these days we'll figure out how to make him less fearful of dogs, but for now he's a big old chicken! If we even got him over the threshold at your house, he's probably climb right up my body and be on my head once he saw 4 dogs!

Lori

I suggest exposure therapy. Usually, it entails gradual exposure but that's long and sorta boring. I prefer a more cut to the chase solution. It's sorta like when we had two dogs that would constantly fight whenever they saw one another. My solution was to chuck both of them into a closet or bathroom and lock the door. That way, they'd sort it out one way or the other and peace would once more reign. Four or five dogs plus drake and a closet would probably sort things out too. Once the shrieking stops, he'll realize they mean him no harm.

Yep, yep. Not to mention it's a cheap solution to boot. Classic exposure therapy could require dozens of sessions taking baby steps.

So by your own idea of therapy, we should lock you up in a room full of cats to break that hatred for cats?

Wouldn't that just give me the oppertunity to step on cats?

Not if you are tied up and tarred and catnipped!

He'd certainly be cat nipped alright.

We can have a new Tavern game. A big stack of kitty beanie babies with velcro on their bottoms. The object of the game is to find out how many cats can you toss at Henwy and make them stick :D
