TOPIC: USPS madness

USPS madness 2 months 2 weeks ago #1

So, this week it was decided that the Springfield IL mail processing center will eventually close. Any mail sent from here will then go to St. Louis for processing, even if it is being merely mailed across town. So that means more items going into the vortex.

All I can see is further delays for token orders/transmutes/VTD treasure leaving the area. Plus of course our inbound to TD HQ taking longer. Can we maybe get Fed Ex as an alternative for our orders to be shipped to us? And for shipping to Carbondale as well?

I know, the rates aren’t as low as the post office. But the delays are horrid now. This change by the post office is going to make it much worse for everyone.

I’m sure there are other factors making this a bad idea. So just don’t set me on fire; let’s see what we can for hire out.

Maybe wait and see what actually happens with the post office and level of service before changing anything?

The cheapest Fed Ex rate for ~300 tokens from Carbondale to where I live in CA (that's the approximate contents of a $250 ultra rare value pack, or a 10 player party worth of full treasure and starter 10-packs from a single VTD run) is $24.01.

The post office has decided to delay the change until 2025, thanks to several senators pestering the postmaster about it.

Fedex is pretty expensive and UPS is greatly unreliable (the majority of UPS packages I get are badly damaged.)

USPS has slowed by about 2 days for cross-country delivery since DeJoy was appointed by the prior President. He can't be replaced without a majority vote of the board of governors (Biden's administration asked him to resign and he refused.) His decision to throw out quite a few fairly new auto-sorting machines and no additional staffing created big problems.

Hopefully, St Louis will improve - it does seem to be the USPS black hole. I definitely have more problems there than everywhere else in the US combined.
