TOPIC: Craft advice

I ordered a storage box on Etsy for Marvel Champions. It is made of birch plywood, and I have to assemble it myself. I was thinking about staining it and applying some kind of protective coating. Does anyone have any advice for me? I’m not particularly crafty, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

I heard TD stains props with Harpy Blood, but it’s expensive.

I use something like this on my miniatures or small wood projects.
