TOPIC: Baby it's cold outside

Been without power since early AM.

1.5 million Houstonians in the same boat.

Expect all should be well by Thursday but we are in the "last in line" area, so...

Luckily the problem is power generation and not delivery so once the plants get operable again it should come right back.

If I'm gonna be snowed in, I want it to be at GameHoleCon!

That sucks! I got a surprise snow day at work, as I went in early to avoid the afternoon. But they decided to close early and most folks didnt come in. Mostly ice it seems now. Tomorrow will be fun.

It's warmed up to -2 here in south east Iowa (it was -17 without wind chill last night). But it has started snowing again. On top of the 2-3 feet on the ground from last time a few days ago. Looks like 18-20 degrees in Houston. Thats t-shirt weather for an Iowan Hope everyone stays safe and warm.

It's 9 now and 1 not far northwest of us. The temps outside were fine, kinda fun in fact. It's the lack of power that was annoying. It's back on now, we'll see if it lasts.

Northwest Arkansas has moved from a balmy -15 a couple hours ago to 0 now that the sun is out. Mitchell and I woke up to frozen pipes yesterday. Luckily, after a unproductive (work) day spend tracing all the pipes throughout the house and ensuring it wasn't on our end, the city came out (after the snow storm stopped) and the meter was frozen...so a free and easy fix (and not a busted pipe). We and the menagerie are prepping for another 2-3 days of snow that's starting later today. As long as we keep the birds warm and the pipes thawed, I'm happy.

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

Meanwhile in Chicago, white dragons have reappeared for the first time this age.

You can prevent frozen pipes by having water constantly running - just a trickle is enough.

Well, it's been pretty windy in LA lately, so the pine needles from my neighbors tree have been getting in our pool. We might even need to sweep the front porch later.
