TOPIC: Need advice on a new webcam for VTD

Fellow digital dungeon delvers i need some advice on a better than okay or otherwise less than 100 usd webcam upgrade? As has been pointed out 1 too many times over the course of VTD wknds i'm in need of an upgrade. Currently using an 11 year old Microsoft Lifecam (720p model) circa 2009.

I only use it for VTD and the odd virtual DnD session. Current issue is fuzzines/auto focus screwing up on zoom with virtual backgrounds (cam is fine with virtual background turned off). It's annoyed me and coach staff enough that it needs replaced. Only odd thing is i need to place it on my monitor and i sit 6-8 inches below it so angle downward is a must or else risk having it stare up my nostrils.

Also on the buy list is a wired headset for one who has a large cranium and wears glasses. Again only use it for VTD.

Any advice is appreciated and figured i'd ask what folks around here are using especially the VTD vols who have them on all during VTD weekends.

I got a Logitech 270i from Newegg, seemed to work well for me when I showed my TEs. All the documentation was an Asian language but I was able to get info with a web search. Shipped from China, and may take a while. You might be able to find a domestic source.

I use these at work. They are easy to setup, sound and video is ok, and really the price is hard to beat.

little nicer audio quality IMO

both of them perch quite nicely on top of a flat screen monitor

Honestly, any 1080P cam is going to be plenty. I got this cheap $25 one for my son at college and he has used it for classes as well as performing a large role play that was done virtually due to Covid.

Zero reason to spend more money for anything non-professional.
