TOPIC: What is the best superhero movie?

i didn't believe SW were that genre, but i have heard it argued.

Howard the Duck

ok, maybe not Howard the Duck but it was memorable.

Dark Knight should get the nod as the best super hero movie of all time.

There is one movie people aren't mentioning that should definitely be a contender: Unbreakable. You don't know it's a superhero movie until more than half way through and it does a great job building a possible mythos around the idea. Ironically, it uses comic books as a form of prophesy and how people describe things they believe in but aren't sure they've actually seen.

Nova (3 year old) likes captain marvel.

Clark (6 year old) likes the miles morales spider-man (into the spider verse)

Cat (wife) says wonder woman and thor...but then after talking a bit, she changes her mind to star wars a new hope.

I think I will go with the incredibles.

Captain America the Winter Soldier is by far a solid action thriller that hits all the right notes with me. Having owned a comic and game store for 25 years my opinion of course is biased. But this movie captures the plot of political thrillers of the 70"s, the best action sequences of the 80-90-00"s and emotional resonance of any modern drama. It is my current all time favorite marvel movie. Watchmen is a close 2nd, but I grew up on Alan Moore and sold a hell of a lot of his graphic novels. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the super hero movies, but Winter Soldier gets watched way to many times in my household.

I'm with Spud here. Love many superhero movies, and I think many are high-quality films with great performances, writing, productions, etc.

But my vote for BEST is Captain America:The Winter Soldier, no question.

My issue with Cap is the same issue that lots of folks have with Supes. I just don't care about him as a character. He is not unique. He is not cool. He overcomes being a scrawny little guy by being giving super serum. Not much of a hero's journey. Just has little interest to me as a character. Winter Soldier wasn't bad but I did not like The First Avenger and maybe that put me off of Cap a bit as well. I do like how he finally evolved in later movies (though felt Civil War was weak overall).

While my favorite hero i the comics is Batman, by far my favorite movie hero is Cap. A great role model with strong principles.

Fair, I don't go to the movies to watch a role model though...lol. If we are talking favorite Superhero in a superhero movie how does Deadpool not win everytime. I don't think his movies were the best (I liked them just others more) but as a superhero that I would watch in any movie Deadpool wins for me. Bad movie doesn't matter he is entertaining on his own. Ryan Reynolds I will argue is a better choice for Deadpool than Robert Downey Jr is for Tony Stark but that is pretty damn close.

No argument that both Ryan and Robert have done awesome performances as Deadpool/Iron Man.

I think I need to watch Howard the Duck and Mysterymen back-to-back!

I think Howard the Duck is underrated, especially the end when everything goes crazy. That would be a fun double-header.
