Howdy. Slowly recovering from not being allowed to go to GC this year. Already counting down the days to next year.

To make up for missing it, I was considering trying another con this fall/winter. Can anyone recommend the following cons, or can anyone speak out against them? I'd only be able to go to one if I can go.

GAMEHOLE CON (TD would be the big draw)
BOARDGAMEGEEK CON (Sold out, but if my friend goes to volunteer he could get me a badge)

I can strongly recommend GHC, it's super low key chill compared to gencon, plus you know you it has TD.

GHC. It’s a great little con. Hotels are reasonable, parking is free, and TD tickets are easy to get.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

GHC if you want TD of course!

I haven't been to BGG or PAXU but from what I know of them they are like 80%+ board gaming. GHC feels more like 80% RPGs to me, with board gaming on the side. Also GHC has a very small dealer hall so don't expect to spend much time there.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

I really like GHC. Td and D&D all day.

I attend BGG.CON every year and love it! It is of course entirely boardgames, so very different from GenCon (which for me has become TDCon)

I have no experience with GHC and am trying to decide if I want to add that to my schedule this year (having already played 3*E1, 2*E2, 2*E3 at GC)... That Side Quest is certainly tempting.

Why haven't you been going to GHC??? If your "doctors" approve, then you should be going! PAX West too...

PAX Unplugged is an hour from me in Philly. It's not a bad Con. I've gone the past 2 years and bought a few games both times. I don't recall seeing any real roleplaying being done, though. But I only went for 1 day each time.

I love BGG as well. I’ll be there, looking forward to seeing how it is at a larger venue.

Two other interesting cons (not Td related) are the jojo cruise (it’s a cool experience that is pretty chill.) and Dragoncon (think of a concentioj where gaming and pop culture just crashed head-long into each other. Dragoncon isn’t laid back, though (and it’s happening in a few weeks).

Winter Fantasy is worth doing once if you are a hard core AL D&D fan. The location leaves a lot to be desired, though (like not being safe outside at night). Garycon is on my bucket list as a big rpg gaming convention where you can get to play with the authors, etc.

If TD were to add another convention, I’d recommend Garycon or Dragoncon (dragoncon would expose TD to a big new audience). If they really wanted to go crazy, they could do SDCC but the costs would be pretty exorbitant to do so.

GaryCon may not have enough space at the con hotel for a run layout.

Sidequest could work. Might not be financially feasible though.
