Just saw an interview with John Waters, who stated this event occurred on the same day Judy Garland passed. That doesnt pass a fact check, but it was the same week.

He was quite funny about it.

Judy Garland died on June 22 and was buried on June 27--the day before the first Stonewall Riot. It was probably just a coincidence, but it's certainly interesting to speculate.

Waters was making some entertaining (to me at least) jokes about it.

I think I may have seen that same interview. I agree that his speculation was not intended to be serious. For those who may not be as familiar with the history, John Waters is not the first person to suggest a connection between Stonewall and Judy. Unlike John, some folks have seriously suggested Judy's funeral had an influence over the mental state of those who rioted.

BTW, I adore John Waters! I've seen all his movies except Polyester because I refuse to watch it without Odorama. His one-man show is awesome! If you ever see Pink Flamingos in a theater, be sure to stay until the very end. Marvel's got nuthin' on John Waters when it comes to final scenes in a movie!
