Josh I am an Indy local that is headed to GHC. Is it possible to still get the 20 Sided Rye, and if it is would you want 3 month old beer (I know that is not too old but just checking).

Sun King beers have a 90 day shelf life. They may not be so tasty in November.

They have them in pint cans (which look awesome in their own right). So long as they are kept at room temperature or colder they would be fine. I have bottles and cans in my beer cellar that have aged really well over several months to a year (sometimes more).

There are several factors that determine how well a beer ages. Hoppy beers (without other strong flavors) such as IPAs do not age well at all. Something like Fistful of Hops (Sun King's IPA) you want as fresh as possible, anything over a month old would not be good. As for cellaring beers, you want something over ~7% in order to cellar well.

20 Sided Rye is only 5.5%, so I definitely wouldn't cellar it, but it's not an IPA or anything, so it will still be drinkable after 3 months. It probably won't be as good as it was fresh, but shouldn't be bad yet.

As for actually purchasing some, I'm not sure that it's still available. I haven't looked for it since GenCon, but I know the liquor stores ran out of it before the end of the con, and my understanding is that they wouldn't be shipping out more after the con (though I could be completely wrong). I would imagine it's still possible to find it in cans or on tap at the occasional bar, but not in stores.

I would offer to help you out, but I'm not sure if I'll be going to GHC or not. Also, I'm leaving for a week on a business trip tomorrow, so I won't be able to check until the end of next week (though maybe I can get my sister to take a look for me before then). If I do end up making it to GHC, do you have any interest in a beer trade, Joshua? (Or anyone else for that matter?)

When I left on Sunday the Sun King Brewing location at 135 North College Avenue had a lot of cans still on hand, and it was really easy to find.

It was $32.10 with tax for 2 4-packs.

Craft beers tend to last for about 6 months at least from my experience, a lot longer for the high AC ones.

If they have any left I can send you $40 for the brews and the difference for your trouble.

If you want to trade beer, I can pick up anything from Cincinnati you're interested in (and from a lot further away too because of Jungle Jim's being about 15 minutes from my house). I highly recommend anything from Mad Tree or Rivertown. Both have phenomenal pumpkin ales that just came out this week.

On my way out of town on Sunday afternoon I stopped by the Sun King Brewery on College. I wanted to take some back to Michigan as gifts for my beer-loving friends. Before he would sell me any, he wanted to verify I had a way to keep them chilled on the way home and he stated, "Twenty-Sided Rye does not hold up if not kept chilled."

Wow... you actually live pretty close to me. I live in Reading and hit up Jungle Jim's all the time for beer. Definitely agree with Mad Tree and Rivertown.
