Our Lava Beast, aka Patricia, was a fun project for sure. The Carbondale Crew tends to limit the amount of time spent on projects, be it a puzzle design and production, or the build of some weird monster.

This year, we took a glance at a scissor lift we've had hanging out in the warehouse and imagined a lava based worm that would appear to be a chunk of rock. This was a quick yet well thought out build and happened to be an experiment that sort of, well, stuck.

I have decided not to disclose too much information on this beasty but can say that it involved many of the same techniques used to build our giant sassy ladies in the final room in Behold Her Majesty this year.

Another fantastic creature!

When I first saw it, I wondered which Haunt show Jeff had picked it up at, and how much call there would be for such monsters at Hallowe'en. It looked like such a professional job that I didn't realize it was specially constructed for the dungeon.

Loved the effect as it reared over the wall!

You probably needed to use those weird looking pokeballs that were in the room off to the side. They were kinda egg-ish shaped.

... wait! There were 3 of them! Are they the candies you get after catching it?

I think the critter may have been some weird fire evolution of Onyx?

The monster was a lava beast. Those "weird looking poke balls" were its eggs.
