TOPIC: Profantasy's Campaign Cartographer

Profantasy's Campaign Cartographer 17 years 10 months ago #1

Anyone else have this mapping program? I got it this week and I have to say it is pretty cool. I have only scratched the surface of what I can do with it. I am using to to create a map of an upcoming NWN2 persistent World.

I don't have the program. I believe I may have asked, but what NWN2 persistent world? I've been playing in one for going on two years.

If all goes to plan, it will be a world based on Robert Newcomb's Blood and Stone books. There is plenty of source material, yet his books are not an obvious choice like Jordan's or Martin's or Tolkien's books, so it should be fairly unique.

I still play on the World of Amon PW--in fact, just started again after a long break. I also used to play on Exaria and Exaria II. The player base has really thinned out, but the game is, after all, 5 years old. I look forward to NWN2 really reenergizing the PWs. Most scripts from NWN will port over to NWN2 with little modification, so there are plenty of people already planning PWs for the new release. I really like Oblivion, but I love the multiplayer ability of NWN.

I love the CC2 Pro and other software titles by ProFantasy.
CC3 has just been released.
I'm a little confused on the CC3 stuff though.
Confusion points are:
1) They are selling CC3 with the bundle of all the add-ons such as DD Pro and CD Pro.
2) I received an e-mail back from Linda with PF yesterday telling me that the add-on products do not work with CC3 and that if I wanted to use my add-on products, I would need to install CC2 Pro and then the add-ons and install CC3 separately.

Eeeesh. I sent Linda another e-mail today asking for confirmation and clarification. I wanted to find out if PF would be making new add-ons or updating old ones or what was really going on now and in the future. We'll see what she has to say.

JKW
You might want to give them a bit of time to get back from Origins this weekend...

Since I just recently got CC2, I can upgrade to CC3 for free, but right now I'm just trying to figure out how to use everything. I find the Ultimate Tome of Mapping to be quite helpful.

Based on the email I just received from Profantasy, they are working on the upgrades for the Add-on programs. Sounds like the Dungeon Designer upgrade is already completed.
