Guess we have to find a lady first :P

Must be hard not knowing what a lady looks like Henwy. Maybe you should try getting out more.

"Oh, there's the Lady. Hi Lady." (from one of my favorite movies).

In my opinion it is a sad trend in our society that anything seems to be permissible, and it is politically incorrect to expect a higher standard in any arena. Unfortunately our language has suffered along with manners and civility. Alexander Pope was right when he said, "Vice is a monster of so frightful mien, As to be hated need but to be seen; Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face, We first endure, then pity, then embrace." He wrote that back in the 1600's--so deteriorations of standards (including language) is not a new phenomenon.

I hope TD forum will always keep to the higher road. I appreciate DD's concerns, because she is certainly a lady by word and deed.

Widseth

I'm not saying that I don't think people should be more considerate, only that I hardly even notice it anymore. Also, since "PG-13" is the guideline which was officially established, we don't necessarily have grounds to forbid some words that many of us may prefer not be used. I'm all for requesting people hold themselves to a higher standard, especially if it makes some of our members uncomfortable. :nono:

And I certainly hope I'm not one of the ones who used an expletive. :icon_scratch: I'm usually pretty well behaved, unless I've been watching Kevin Smith movies or listening to my Jay & Silent Bob soundtrack. :icon_tongue:

Jay happens to have one of the foulest mouths I have ever experiences. He may make a sailor blush!

I haven't even noticed it around here - compared to other forums I visit, this is a haven of polite people and propriety.

Also, most of my lady friends are more profane than I am - I guess we theatre types are pretty loose with our verbage. :-)

Having been a sailor, I have professional training in this area. It took me a couple of years to remove the swearing from my general vocabulary. :)

That said, I did a quick check to make sure I wasn't one of the folks you were talking about. I used the "a" word in my GenCon event reg rant (in the context of "half-a**ed"). I didn't really consider that a hard swear (more along the lines of "crap"), but I apologize if you took offense.
Henwy might need a set of ID cards so he could identify what a lady looks like.

Only head of a household is not applicable under that definition block.
