*little laugh* Sorry guys I just don't get this and will have to file it under: Eewwwwww.

And I am suddenly reminded of a game for turbografix, Splatterhouse. Definite Eewwwww.

mmmmm......Splatterhouse that was a great game. I'm all about the ewwww nothing like wading in guts in a game. As for the musical i'm going to try to go as well i live in Michigan so i can probably get a cheap flight to Montreal. I really like the Evil Dead series as well but i don't really consider them horror movies but comedies and i definitely wouldn't file them with my zombie movies. I still have my copy of splatterhouse even though i don't have a turbografix anymore. that was the best game on the turbografix 16. Kaladhan the "remake" of Night of the Living Dead that your talking about was actually a completely different and seperate movie called Return of the Living Dead it mentions the events that occurred in Night but only loosely for background information.

On a side note: Gary did you ever play Might and Magic World of Xeen and Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos(narrated by Patrick Stewart.

There was a remake of Night of the Living Dead in 1990 with Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman.

Return of the Living Dead came out in 1985. I miss going to drive-ins to see horror movies. I enjoyed RotLD, it was fun, but hokey, "Send more cops", "Send more paramedics", great fun. The RotLD series got weird with numbers 3, 4, and 5.

for people who think killing zombies is all headshots and fun they should watch Return of the Living Dead the zombies are both intelligent(able to reason, talk and work in teams etc.) and pretty much indestructible (even if you cut them up they still keep coming)

you might want to watch "the serpent and the rainbow". bill pullman stars in it as a researcher for a pharmacutical company. he goes to haiti to try to find out about the drugs that make zombies. i hear it is based on actual events.

I saw Serpent and the Rainbow already based on another friends recommendation I thought it was pretty good. I never realized it was a true story and actually happened though. I am into the more theatrical type zombies rather than the traditional voodoo meaning. Although I appreciated the movie for what it was and i think Bill Pullman is a pretty good actor.

I really think there needs to be better big budget zombie films (the Resident Evil films for example have a huge budget but a very poor storyline). Everytime I see a zombie movie that is made with a huge budget in hollywood and recently it usually ends up sucking (i don't count 28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead in this because they are English films). Zombie movies need a good storyline too and modern ones always seem to get short changed in this department (although Slither was a pretty solid flick with a zombieesque feel). Look at the recent version of Dawn of Dead compared to the majority of Romero movies i've seen that film just sucked in comparison (my friend would argue though that the shooting the movie star thing saved it i tend to disagree though).

Firstly let me say that the whole point of a zombie flick is to have solid character development in a survival situation with a solid background story to back it up (why are the zombies here, what caused the zombies etc. are not necessary questions examine in the movie but the thoughts of a survivor on the eating of friend should be). George Romero's best movies never saw the need to examine the origin of the zombies (viral outbreak, radiation, or whatever) but only to conceptualize how the characters in this situation react to one another. In the two recent success zombie movies (Shaun of the Dead and 28 Days Later) we given either a minimal explanation of the zombies origin or no explanation at the start of the film. These are the reasons why films like Resident Evil and the Dawn of the Dead Remake fall flat in comparison. Finally, modern zombie films need a little more "grit" to them most of the modern ones(US films) seem lack the gritty realism from classics like Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead (these movies really suspended my disbelief). The majority of these films feel sanitized, dull, and unrealistic and I always feel like i'm just watching the movie rather than expieriencing it.
