Is anyone here a horror fan (especially zombie fans) post here 18 years 3 weeks ago #1

I really like horror i am a big fan of all types of horror movies. I have always wanted to try the Cthulhu roleplaying game but they were all full at last years Gen Con. Gen Con is basically my only chance all year of roleplaying so i like to take advantage of it as much as i can (can you say almost zero sleep). I like horror movies (especially of the zombie movies and such), survival horror games, and horror flash movies/games as well. What type of horror movies do you guys like? Are you into zombie flicks? Do you have a favorite survival horror game? What is the worst horror game/movie you've ever watched/played?

My favorite zombie flicks are:
Dawn of the Dead (the original version the new one sucks)
Night of the Living Dead (the must watch zombie film in the genre)
Sean of the Dead (great zombie flick it pays homage to George Romero's movies)

My favorite horror games are:
Silent Hill 1,2
Resident Evil 1,2,4
Indigo Prophecy (cheesy but fun)
Phantasmagoria Series (super cheesy but again fun to play)
(i have more to add to both lists but i can't think of them right now)

These are some pretty good horror flash game and best of all they are free:

Exmortis:
www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=189227

Exmortis 2:
www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/303832

there is a really cool zombie survival test out there if you or anyone else wants to take it. Its a pretty good test i scored almost a hundred percent on it. Max Brooks also makes a somewhat entertaining zombie survival guide.

www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=5349989821747660792
OKCupid! The Zombie Scenario Survivor Test

Well before I answer your question I will say that any true zombie movie lover needs to pick up this book:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1400049628/sr=8-1/qid=1144776968/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3179761-5179301?%5Fencoding=UTF8

It's by Mel Brooks' son, and it's fantastic...

As for Zombie survival games, I wouldn't really recommend CoC because though it's a great game it's more about the supernatural than just strictly zombies. My personal favorite zombie game is an RPG (which usually has a good amount of games running at Gencon) called All Flesh Must be Eaten... it's a good system, and with a good person running it, it's a blast.

As for good zombie entertainment, instead of a movie, I'll suggest the best zombie entertainment that I've had in a long time (even better than Shawn of the Dead)... it's a comic book series called "the Walking Dead", it's done by image comics, and it's everything that I love about Zombie survival stuff... the humans and there interactions are just as deadly (if not more so) than the zombie's, and it's almost like the stress to live (finding food/warmth) and the everpresent threat of zombies is always weighing on the characters... I feel that for zombie lovers it too is a "must read" and you can get the 5 trade paper backs (6 comics each) at amazon as well...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1582403589/ref=sib_dp_pt/102-3179761-5179301#reader-page

I bought the book, but haven't read all of it yet. It is an interesting read and I hope to finish it before being hounded by zombies.

i got the book and read it already i think i have better ideas about how to survive in a zombie situation than he does. just so you know there are boards out there where people discuss zombie survivalism. i know its sounds wierd but its kind of fun in its own way.

Have you played the boardgame "Zombies!!!"? There are usually several games of it ran at Gen Con.

Sometimes that's a great game, and sometimes it just drags on and on and on... you have make sure you don't put the helipad to deep. and how people set up the board has a lot to do with it... it gets s thumbs up, just realize it can be a LONG game...

I enjoyed:

Night of the Living Dead (the original)
Dawn of the Dead (the new and original)
Shaun of the Dead
Zombie 2 (the wood sliver in the eye freaked me out as a kid)
Night of the Comet (I was in high school, what do you want?)

I disliked:

28 Days Later
Zombie 3, 4, and 5 (they sucked beyond belief)

I'm sure I'll come up with more later.

Yes, it can be monotonous, but it does capture the flavor of zombie movies. Plus, it's a game that's easy to tweak and make house rules for. Besides, you get lots of cool plastic zombies!
