Gals, tell me I'm not the only one. . . 18 years 1 month ago #1

*little laugh* Okay, this is kinda embarrassing but hopefully I'm not the only one!

I currently feel like quite the idiot. *little laugh*
I am literally all dressed up with no where to go because I'm practicing walking in heels. On the 12th I have a semi-formal event to attend. And I saw a pair of heels I actually liked and have needed a pair for a while.
When I got home I realized I hadn't bought a pair of heels since 97'. And they died about three years ago. Usually I get by with my hiking boots or my heeled boots which have a nice fat heel and ankle support.
So clearly I have to relearn how to walk in heels. Plus they aren't my size, they are actually on the small side. The largest they had was a 9. I scoured boxes and aisles looking for a larger size to no avail. I usually wear a 9.5 or a 10.
So I'm getting to pace my room in heels and a pencil skirt to make sure I don't break my neck going up stairs on the 12th.
Please tell me I'm not the only that has had to 'practice learning how to walk in heels'.
*little laugh* Cause I must say gals I feel like a complete moron.

I have enough trouble just *walking* sometimes, never mind heels. I've fallen off a pair of sandals before, so yeah, any time I put on heels (which I usually don't, and in fact the only pair I have are kitten heels), I have to practice walking around in them.

Heels are EVIL.

*little laugh* Thank you I needed to hear that.

*little laugh* I don't even want to think about the fact that my ankles haven't been visible to the public eye since 02' or 03'.
EEPP! Oh no, I'll have ankle showing!

And from what I understand, yes heels are evil! They were invented by an italian man who adhered blocks onto his wifes shoes so she'd stop running away.
I hate heels myself and I know what you mean about having to learn to walk in them. Is there going to be dancing at this event? If so watch for cues from the other women when they start taking their shoes off for comfort. I'd be surprised if someone didn't.

Kim

I used to be really good at walking in heels. And I'm talking about the 3-4" stiletto type. But it is a skill that you definitely have to "use or lose". I've been known to practice wearing them at home. I think I've only worn heels once or twice in the past four years.

For my wedding, I bought a really nice pair of pink shoes to match my dress. I wanted to break them in so they would be comfortable, but didn't want to scuff them. I spent many a day walking around the house in those shoes, with a thick pair of mens socks on over the shoes, so they'd stay nice.

I wore a pair of white Isotoner slippers for my wedding and no one knew the difference. My feet were blissfully comfortable.

Kim

*little laugh* Thank you gals I needed to hear that.
No dancing, its not that kind of event I'll be attending.
Thanks for sharing, and making me feel not stupid. *little laugh*

Heels? Ack! That is an evil word!
But luckily, I'm 5'11", so I don't need them anyway.

Indeed.
I infinitely prefer my boots.
Well I'll be taking them 'evil heels' out for a trial wear when I go out to meeting. EPP, I'll be showing ankle! *keeps tugging at skirt trying to make it longer*
*little laugh*

Thanks again gals.

For what its worth, I don't think I could ever walk in heels. Thank God I'm a guy! :walk:

Wouldn't it be fun to have a "walking in high heels" contest for guys in the tavern. :evil4: :evil6:
