TOPIC: Cancer, Disneyland, and WIN A RELIC!

Hey, everyone! Many of you know that I am running again after recovering from knee surgery. I was going to do the Disneyland Half Marathon last year, but had to drop out due to a knee injury. I started training six months after the surgery on my meniscus. I walked the LA Marathon in March, and in April I ran a 10K mud run.

I have rejoined Team in Training to run the Disneyland Half again. I am looking forward to running through Disneyland and Angels Stadium, but my real goal will be to help raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help support patients with blood cancers and their families. The LLS also works to find cures for these terrible diseases. I will be running in memory of my Auntie Kathie and my Dad.

What does this have to do with you? Well, Jeff and Lori have once again donated a fantastic token to help me raise funds. This year it's a RELIC - the GIRDLE OF FROST GIANT STRENGTH (+5 to strength). It is not only totally awesome on its own, but it is a required token to make the legendary Girdle of Fire Giant Strength!

For every $25 you donate, your name will be put into a hat (or some other type of randomizer) for a chance to win the RELIC. So $50 donation gets two chances, $100 gets 4, etc. The deadline will be one week after I reach my goal - I'll make on announcement here. I will cover the shipping cost for the token, or I will hold onto it and deliver it by hand at GenCon.

Is there some trick I'm missing in trying to change my avatar? I've got a new running picture I'd like to use, and the profile page said my new image was saved, but there has been no change.

Keep trying. I had the exact same experience. I'm not sure what I did differently to make it work, but eventually it changed.

Also, Shift+Reload the page and/or flush your browser's cache. That may also be a factor.

Haha. I meant this particular fundraising effort, of course. And, you never know, he might find a new cause after this particular one.

There are indeed many causes, but I am thinking of taking a break from TNT for a while - I am going to focus on shorter races, like 10Ks and mud runs for a while.

I will be able to accept donations up to and after my race, which will be Laber Day weekend. However, I am planning on doing the RELIC drawing soon after I receive enough donations to reach my goal for it. I want to raise as much as possible for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, but I also want to give the winner a chance to transmute it through the exchange program if that is what s/he wants.
