I was going to mention the old Dungeon game myself Mike, I loved that game.

This game is from a different time. The rules are so much simplier than the games today.

what about DragonStrike with the VHS tape - high tech

Dungeon delving is one of my favorite board game genres. My current collection includes:

Catacombs
Caves & Claws (to introduce the kids)
Dragon Strike (the VHS game you mentioned)
Dungeon
Dungeons and Dragons Computer Labyrinth Game (scored on Ebay)
D&D Miniatures (gobs of them)
HeroQuest
HQ: Kellar's Keep
HQ: Return of the Witch Lord
Heroscape: Battle for the Underdark (a D&D Heroscape set)
and, of course, D&D (1E and 3.5 are my favorite)

We enjoy several down here on the Gulf Coast:

D&D Adventure series (Ravenloft/AShardalon) - can't wait for Drizzt edition!

Descent - but set aside Saturday and most of Sunday!

HeroScape D&D - great looking, fun and easy system!

Dungeon - What a blast! Even the wives got into this one.

HeroQuest - simple system that's a great intro to the genre

What is it you like most about these games?

The atmosphere? The anticipation of opening that door and discovering yet another different challenge?
You still got hit points! Get back in there and fight!!

What I really like the most is how it encapsulates the feeling of exploration and combat in a fantasy setting in small slice of time. Even Descent takes a lot less time than a D&D campaign. Don't get me wrong I love RP games, but sometimes I just want to loot a dungeon and fight monsters.

Phat Loot
Mad XP
Dead Gnomes

Order of the Stick may be my least favorite board game ever. I only played it once, so maybe it was the wrong group, but good grief did it just drag on forever. A kick to the groin might hurt worse than OOS at first, but at least the pain is over sooner.

Supposedly the expansion for it tries to address that issue - it's called The Shortening.

Anyone else played Munchkin? It is quite amusing, like an every man for himself dungeon crawler card game. Very comedic too.

Munchkin is fun with the right crowd. I'm actually excited to see the new one: Munchkin: Axe Cop
