I just went and saw The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. That is the most fantastic movie I've seen in a while. I thought all of the performances were tremendous. The actress who played the White Witch should be nominated for an Academy Award, although she probably won't be. I'm curious to hear what the rest of you who have seen the movie think.

I loved it, but I am a big fan of CS Lewis. I agree completely with your thoughts on the White Witch. She was really incredible. I thought the children did a good job with Edmund as the star. I thought he really pulled off the character. Peter was good. Lucy was young and had a couple of young actress moments, but I enjoyed her performance. I thought Susan was the weakest. I thing the animation was spectacular. I loved the centaurs and Mr and Mrs Beaver. Mr Tumnus was a gem.

I think they handled CS Lewis very well in the transition to film.

I read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was in Middle school so admittedly, I didn't remember much from the first book. But I did like the movie and personally, I'd give it a B+.

I thought the animation with Aslan (the lion) was exceptional. The acting was good especailly Tilda Swinton (The White Witch) who reminds me a lot of Cate Blanchett. Also notable was the animation, costumes, story (of course), direction, and cinematography. Although for me, I'd have to say that it doesn't quite reach the level of Lord of the Rings in terms of cinematic achievement but thats not saying much because few films do. ;)

Interesting note: C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were close friends.

The wife actually thought she was Cate! She could pass for her twin!

I read an article in the USA Today where they were profiling the actors who portray the children in the film. I thought it was interesting that the kid who plays Edmund is the great great grandson of Charles Darwin.

Admittedly, I thought the exact same thing. I would have bet money on it after the film if you asked me. ;)

I thought the film was very good. It was something that I would like to see again and I hope they make the other books into movies.

Given that "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" will probably make back the production costs in under 5 weeks, you can rest assured that the others will be made. ;)

Roughly, $180M.

King Kong was $207M and it looks like it might make that back, maybe.

*coughs in shock at the thought of those kinds of numbers*

Wow, for that much money those movies better look pretty spiffy! *little laugh*
