It's that futilistic time of year again. Looking for anyone interested in joining a nascrag group. Ability to RP is stressed. We're looking to run in the Friday 9pm slot and more information is available at nascrag.org/ . It's the start of a new storyline with new characters so if you didn't mesh with the last plotline (and god knows I didn't), it's a chance to start fresh.

I love NASCRAG, I actually won it several years ago, it is so much fun to roleplay, and figure out clues. I'm a story and role player, it is a refreshing relief from combat. I wish I could join you, unfortunatly I am busy that slot. Good Luck.

Now, I'm all curious what team ya'll are on.
Could you guys be Abrazombie and Lich?
Or Manah Manah?
Or Subatomic Jim and the Inflatable Sugar Sheep Squadron?

Not that I'm checking out my competition or anything.

Since it's Henwy, I'd bet on the Inflatable Sheep team. Just a guess.

Haha. Is he a Baaaa boy?

Ok that one was bad.

I was on the team Bacon Vultures (formerly the Billy James Gang) for a few years. I missed 2 years ago because I was stuck digging through fat. However this year Bacon Vultures will not exist because 3 of our 6 people went off to Judge.

This year I'm on a new team, and we will see how that will go.

Next year I probably won't be able to know how much time I'll get for Gen Con until the week of Gen Con. So I will probably show up as a last minute pinch hitter. I say this as an FYI for any teams out there that may be looking for a last minute crazy person. ;)

He is a very Baaaa boy, as I'm sure even he would agree. We miss him around here - he's boycotting the forum, cuz it's too 'purty', I think.

NASCRAG ended up being lotsa fun. I've said it before and i'll say it again. Fame, glory and even swag might be spiffy but they are all temporary. Nothing keeps on giving like the joy of being able to taste the sweet, sweet tears of those who have done you wrong. Schadenfreude rules.

It took a while, but finally crawled back near the top, even with PUGs

Congrats on 5th place!!!

Alas me and my partner were not able to carry coach our pick up players past being alternates. So we did not make the 3rd round, and I relegated to spending the rest of my Saturday night sipping whiskey and tears.

But I doubt mine were the tears you were referring to, since I try to keep track of the people I wrong, and I don't see a henwy on the list.

I was an alternate for Thaga for round II. My team of PUGs didn't make it, which was a shame since they weren't bad RPers at all. There should have been some sort of curve. 2 had never played D&D of any sort and 1 and played once. Every time they hit dice rolling they froze like deer in the headlights. That said, the RP dynamic actually wasn't bad and a couple of them were really pretty good.

I got slotted into Fire Crotch, because they were missing a person for round 2. There wasn't nearly as much RP and I dunno if it was just because of extreme tiredness or what but a couple of the players barely spoke for much of it. I wasn't sure we really had a chance based on the RP, but we slid through the puzzles like greased gopher snot.

In the end, we placed around the middle to advance which shocked the hell out of me. I go to rally with the team and I'm told that the person who ditched them for round 2 was back and I was off the team. There's no point to quote rule and verse, and so I trudged off and managed to get my name on the alternate list before all the teams were assigned. Got slotted in with an alternate advancing team. Played Kos, which frankly I wasn't sure I could pull off, and had a blast once I released I didn't care if I made an ass of myself.

My only goal for all of round 3 was just to place higher than the Crotch. No fame, no glory, no swag. I just wanted the sweet sweet taste of schadenfreude. I got it too when I discovered they came in dead last for R3. I would have been happy being second to last, but 5th was an unexpected boon.

I think there is plenty of fame and glory in a 5th place placement. I myself like the swag, but it's really about the playing, and somewhat about the GLORY!

I dunno. Who's really going to remember in a year who came in 5th? Maybe with the first three teams there's some sort of residual glory to be had but I think the rest of us are just swept into the dustbin of also ran's. The swag also doesn't do anything for me, but that's mostly because I lack a RPG group. The books and modules are so scattershot anyway that I'm not sure they'd come in handy even if I had a group. I would have liked a Toby in a box as a souvenir but that's about it.
