Anyone know what happened with this? I got an email saying the load testing would begin last Sunday, but did not receive the start email, nor have i been able to find anything on the GenCon website.

Same story here. I also haven't heard hide nor hair of an event catalog and registration is creeping up fast.

The load testing site has a different URL. It has been up for the past week. I don't have the URL on-hand at the moment, but I'll post it later.

Then its in our interests to have as many people online as possible to test it and make the test site crash *before* event registration, so they can work those bugs out. (and then on event registration day, we'll be battling a different set of bugs and crashes ; )

The test website is: http://eventregtest.genconreg.com

There have been some changes since last year: You can no longer submit requests by event ID, instead you make a "wishlist" and when reg goes live, you submit your wishlist. Things at the top of the list will be processed first, so list wisely.

I recommend as many TD regulars as possibly try out the test registration, for 2 reasons:

1) TD is one of the events that regularly stresses the system as thousands of fans try to get tickets for it at once, and
2) If we get used to the way the new system works, and have our ducks (/wishlists?) in a row, we'll be more likely to have our registrations run smoothly... while the less prepared people are still trying to figure out how wishlist work, and why they cant register by event ID anymore.

Thanks, Raven.

I love all the events that say 'Accepts Generics only'. Like that is going to do anything to help stress test the system...

I think the "Accepts Generics" events are to make sure that those events don't allow registration.

I'm trying out my wish list tomorrow, when they're asking all the test registrants to try and crash the system. I have my TD events, as well as about nine miscellaneous others. I'm curious to see how the system holds up under pretend stress....

The first time might be for TD tickets and the second time for the rest of them.

Has anyone else participated in the system test today?

I just had a go with the system, and it was pretty smooth (though I think the real registration day will be a much bigger trial).

Major points to note:

The new Wishlist lets you list the events you want, and you submit the whole Wishlist at once. No more registering by Event ID.

You can not submit your Wishlist before the Registration clock rolls over, and the "Submit Wishlist" button appears.

Once submitted, you get a screen telling you where your Wishlist is in the processing Queue. (If you try to submit your wishlist multiple times, it will only process it once.)

Once your Wishlist is processed, you get a page which tells you which of your requested events was successfully added to your Cart. From there you can go to checkout and pay for them, or go back to adding more events to your wishlist.

You CAN put conflicting events into your Wishlist (so if you want a run starting around 10:00 Thurs, you can wishlist the 10:00, 10:12, 10:24, and 10:36 slots)
*BUT*
if even *one* of those events is successfully added to your cart, you CAN'T put any conflicting events into your Cart.

^^This is different from past years where you couldn't submit conflicting events in the same request, but you could use separate submissions and end up with conflicting events in your cart.

I hope that real registration runs as smoothly for everyone as the test did for me. ; )
